Rain cover for V3i?

I just received my (new to me) V3i a couple of days ago & am having fun trying to learn the detector.-----This question isn't regarding operation but wanted to ask it.----What do you guys use or where can I get a rain cover (protective cover) for the control box of the V3i?---I use my detectors & don"t "baby" them but I don't want to end up scratching the screen of this (or any) expensive detector. :)---------Thanks, Del
 
I don't use any kind of cover Del but if you google or Ebay, you will find a couple of aftermarket covers. If you do scratch the display, it is consumer replaceable for $5 from White's. Just peel the old one off and replace. You don't have to worry about getting it wet either, the display pod is not water proof but it is water resistant and I have hunted in a light shower many times with no protection and it does not even get foggy from the humidity like my SE does. The two halves of the display pod has a rubber gasket in there.
 
Larry laughs at me about covering my detector and worrying about scratching it. But on my V3i I have no need for a pod cover.
 
The nicest covers I have seen (and I have) is the "Thesaurus 2 piece cover set for White's Spectra V3 ".
Do a search on that. They are made in England but I know someone is selling them in the States, you just have to find them.
I don't use the screen cover as I have heard the V3i screen is ok in rain, and it looks as such. I do use the screen cover for travel though.
The box cover is VERY good quality.

Thanks guys, appreciate your responses.----The detector came with the Whites box cover (which I never use) but didn't have a pod cover.----I'll see if I can find one.---My wife "mods" covers for some of our other detectors but we don't have one that's a close enough fit to do that with the V3i.--------Del
 
i use a wrap of saran wrap on screen stretched an a piece of scoth tape and a cover from whites on the box. the cover works good other than you cant change battery with it on... ive used good ole saran wrap for along time when it gets dirty tear it off stretch a new piece around it and good to go. theirs alot of wrap in a box for a couple bucks.
