I am in Texas, my buddy from, here was in NW Florida and detecting. Found a ladies 1998 HS class ring, Travis HS. He posted pics at about 10 am to a group of us. The ring did not have the customary initials, but did have a SS#. Called a cop buddy and about 5 min later had a name, address and phone number. Called the number and she answered, and was just leaving the same resort driving back to Texas. 30 min late the ring was returned!
Another story. A 1943 Rice Institute BS mans ring was found. After digging around on the internet a number was found. Called him in Nacogdoches, Texas., 92 years old. Arranged to give to his great niece for return. Two years later, 2015, he passed away and was buried with his hand on the ring.
Last one, mans wedding band with Charles fm Mary and a date 5/25/56. Dug thru property records for that address and matched a family, then matched the wedding date. Located him, 84 years old, in Pearland Texas, drove there and returned the ring. He said it was one of 5 that he had lost!!
