queston for mxt

He Newbie:

He's right. Opinions are just that: opinions.
Someone one said they are like BUTTon holes. Everybody has got one, or maybe two?
Sometimes negative opinion about a machine can be based on what they WANT the machine to do,
or what they would LIKE the machine to do compared to what it is really capable of doing or its level of
cabalibity such as wether its a beginners machine,a midrange machine or a HIGH END machine.
I am no expert but after having used the MXT for sometime now I would not trade it for anything else out there.

By your question you can tell you never owned a dfx.. The programs such as coin, c/j coin/jewelry, relic are factory programs on the dfx so it would just be a matter of selecting and pressing enter on dfx. Operationing a dfx can be extremely simple if you never leave the factory programs...

The MXT's programs cannot be changed. To answer your question Yes you can find c/j in relic and vice versa. The only differences in the two are the names of the targets that show up, and In c/j the trigger in its forward most state eliminates old style pull tabs (alot of gold too), whereas in relic mode with the trigger forward puts it into two tone mode. The machine can only tell what the object is made out of and its relative size, It will not ignore anything that you dont discriminate out. Sorry, I dont have any info on the DFX, but I hear that it is more versatile due to its programming capabilities. Hope this helps! -Sterling

Uh, trigger forward on the MXT (in relic mode) is not two tone mode. Its in two tone mode with the trigger centered. In the forward mode you are only getting high tones. At least, that's how mine works.

My bad canewrap, you were right. Long day, wasn't thinking clearly:surrender: Good lookin out. Oh BTW Newbie 01, Im excited for you and I hope you enjoy your new piece of equipment!!! HAPPY HUNTING!!! -Sterling

Newbie 01,
Here's post I got from Greg Moscini in which he agrees with the post from Jeff Foster I posted,

The M6 and the MXT share the same chip, hence the same horsepower. White's engineers modified the software and gave the M6 Seven Audio Tones lacking in the MXT. Whites rolled the threshold back about 20% so the M6 will be a bit quieter at preset gain under average conditions.

As Jeff Foster Stated, the tuner-threshold found in the MXT only can hear a bit deeper on the fringe very soft targets like a dime over 8", so a slight soft sputter on the M6 may be that very deep almost out of range target, so make sure your wearing a good set of headphones, like Rat Phones, Detector Pro, Maxi-Phones, Sun Ray Golds, Killer Bs. They all provide excellent signal to noise.

As far as the Beach (M6) or Salt (MXT)... on West Coast Beaches which have negative black sand, its best to use the Ground Tracking. Salt can cause a miss on some gold chains etc depending on levels of mineralization, discrimination settings etc.

So you can see they are pretty close. The MXT a little deeper??, the M6 a little quieter??, the M6 7 tones, MXT 2 tones. If you don't want the relic and prospecting mode get the M6. Oh, the M6 has the classic style handle. Rob

thxs rob.i live in wva so im not worried about beach hunting.i do alot coin/relic hunting so im trying to see which ic the best for the hunt.

You can't go wrong with th MXT.
