Questions for White's users

If I understand correctly, it is impossible to adjust the volume on the M6? Is there a way to make this machine quiet (without using headphones)?

No unless you put tape over speaker hole. Thats the only negative about mxt, mxtpro and m6. So blasting loud. Hurts my ears. Even with whites prostar headphones on min volume was still too loud ... Then comes the mx5. Saved the day lol ...i rarely hunt without headphones but there are times i will and the mx5 makes that possible.

Thank you! Good to know. I am very sensitive when it comes to unnecessary noises (I don't want to draw attention). It is very hard to decide between M6 and MX5. There are many positive comments about the older one, but without volume control it is (at least for me) a huge minus (if not a no-go). But on the other hand, the MX5 has no confidence bars and some say, the VDIs are not as stable as on the M6...
Hmm... I don't know...

The mx5 will surprise you. It compares to many top shelf detectors. I have found several gold items and quite a few silver already.

I have never had a problem with the volume on the M6 but that is probably because I am a musician and have played music for years and am used to the loudness. Either detector would be good. I just prefer the knob discrimination on the M6 and the confidence bars and graphic icons along with the VDI numbers. But the MX5 would serve you well too.

Thank you very much. I just have to see some MX5/M6 videos, before I decide. Let's hope, someone will finaly put new stuff on youtube.

Good luck with whatever you decide. They are both good machines and you will get a lot of pleasure out of using either one of them.
