I just whant to know the price more or less because I my be getting one for water hunting on fresh water.
will this model work okay on fresh water?
thank you for your comments on this.

It works GREAT in fresh water. The only problem is you can get a good used CZ-21 for around 600.00 IF your CZ-20 ever breaks it will cost you at least 300.00 to have it repaired. They have to make it into a CZ-21. You might just want to look for a used CZ-21.

Some one is trying to unload their 20. Read about it. Just find a nice used 21. If you do go with 20, 150 max. Send right in an have them refurbish/upgrade. Scubadetector already posted the cost. You could also go with the 1280. Freshwater only. But...man they are built like tank an reliable.

$150 max?!? Joe, if you find them that cheap I'll buy as many as you can find! I paid $550 shipped for my CZ-20 with the hardshell case, hip mount and belt. But it was barely used and I purchased it a couple of months ago, ie peak season... It was a tad on the high side, but well worth it...

You know what they say. Something is only worth what some one is willing to pay. HH an GL. -Joe

Scuba . . . $600 for a used CZ-21 . . . that's what it should be, but it's not because you can buy a new one for $958.

Joe . . . $150 - $250 on a used CZ-20 . . . that's also . . . what it should be, but it's not . . . I was recently told by a very
good source ( highly respected shop ) that Fisher charges around $600 for the conversion and will not allow anyone
else to do it ( i.e. won't provide the parts).

Add to that shp'g both ways and God help you if the coil is bad. So best case scenario even starting out at $250 you
will still finish up at around $1,000 vs $958 as stated above.

All CZ-20's will leak if taken deep enough and long enough. The CZ-20 cases are defective and so are the pin point
buttons. SO SAYS FISHER . . . there's no way around this. Don't let anyone tell you any different.

I have not seen one reasonably priced CZ-20/21 anywhere.

Buyer Beware!
BE CAREFUL and do not fall into the trap that others have fallen into and want to just pass on to you.
Only the Original Registered Owner is warrantied.

Well your highly respected shop is VERY MISTAKEN. You pay shipping one way and the conversion is 299.00. IF you need a new coil and headphones be prepared to pay up to 425.00. And they ship it back at that price. It costs 25.00 to ship it priority mail which is two days AND their turn around time is 7 - 10 days. For those that know me on this forum, I have dealt with First Texas a LOT. A great company AFTER they worked out the bugs from the buyout.

I have seen LOTS of CZ-20's for 550.00 and a few CZ-21's for 600.00. And your right, if the machine had a lifetime warranty or any warranty left on a CZ-21 it only applies to the registered owner. The defective part of the CZ-20 is the faceplate with the pinpoint button. They cracked very easy and you couldn't see it because of the black plastic trim piece. The pinpoint button also started sticking on the units. I never used the pinpoint button and had First Texas disable it.

And your completly right about First Texas not supplying parts to make a 20 into a 21. The machines HAVE to be pressure tested after completion. I don't know of ANY shop that can do that. ALSO after the conversion you get a ONE YEAR warranty on the machine, compared to a TWO year warranty on a brand new CZ-21.

The fall and winter is the best time to find the best deal on a water machine, just like finding the best deal on a boat.

I tell it like it is on all the forums I comment on. I don't sugar coat anything and I don't try to pull the wool over any ones eyes. I want everyone to be safe, have fun and enjoy water hunting no matter what machine they have. The forum I lurk on the most is Beach and Scuba Diving. That is where you can see all my finds and get most of the advice I have to offer.

I wouldnt call what im doing unloading my cz20. Im like anyone else i have a detector for sale and i want to try something different. The 20 i have has been dependable and is a good detector but i can see it has a bad reputation and for that reason i will avoid the cz series all todether. All of us who detect try different machines till we find one that suits us. I can see though that this detector will be in my closet for the next 20 years no one wants them. I cant even get a trade on a ace 250 and the cz20 blows it away!!. Its just too heavy for my 12 yr old.......o welllllll:throw:

Send me ur tired beatup scratched up offers on units like t2/ omega/ ace250-350/ bounty hunter platinum/delta just what ever u have so i can unload a cz. Mind u after all the bad talk mine kicks but in fresh water. The boy ccant take the 5+ lbs,,,,,,,,,good day

I am buying his machine so I can have a backup. the CZ-20 is a hot machine and I loved mine. I had to have my other backup made into a CZ-21 and becasue of my job status had to sell it. I can now afford another one.

I had similar prob with my bhid. all I got asked was if it had original cork, and it did, I couldn't get more then a 100 dollar offer. Even tho she was ace an never leaked. Glad to hear you sold your machine, sorry for saying you were just unloading it. Gl an hh. -Joe

I actually saw a used cz-21 offered for a fair price today . . . first time.

Is it still for sale? My friend Kevin wants one. I looked every where I know and can't find it. He isn't getting my backup!!

Sorry its sold to a member here. It is a really great detector but was to heavy at 6lbs for my 12 year old son....thanks for asking.

I'm not sure what reviews and who's words you're hearing that convince you that the CZ20/21 has a bad reputation or isn't a good detector. I absolutely love the two I have - they're built like tanks and have paid for themselves many times over. There is no "perfect" detector, but the CZ20 is right up there as one of the best fresh water/salt water/beach hunting units there is.

If I could buy them for $100-200 apiece, I have no doubt I could make good money just reselling them.

I guess for me that it was just really hard to sell. I think the 20 is a great detector it was too heavy for my 12 year old son. I had to practically had to give it away to sell it. But other than low resale value i loved the time i spent with it. I found some great stuff in the creeks around here. And u r right they r built better than any detector i myself have Ever seen.

I am sorry you couldn't sell it although I don't know why. I asked what you wanted and you said 200.00 including shipping. I really felt that was WAY too low but thats what you asked for. As you know I sent you 250.00. I know I got a great deal. BUT I never cheated you. I gave you 50.00 more than you asked for. I sure hope you have no issues with me.

Robert

That was definately not pointed at u scuba the guy that ask the question b4 seemed to think i was putting off on the cz20. I think there great just not good resale in my experience. U paid what i asked and even paid shipping. And im greatful to u for that. I truely hope my comment didnt hurt u with me.
