Question: Gold Bug SE / Pro default setting in AM mode

Thanks to all those that replied.

The manual is indeed wrong then ! First Texas Products -- Please make sure you have all written material "PROOF READ" for correctness, as miss information confuses people !!!
I just went and looked at the manual for the pro which is version #3 or supposed to be anyways. And it says the default mode gb is 82.9 so the manual is correct! What does yours say?
I guess according to a post from one of the dealers their is now a version 4 software!!!!!

Mine is 82.9 on version 3, but in the manual it says 849 ! Manual is dated 09/17/10

Sure is! I got it Dec of 2009 It was one of the first ones out! Which brings forth another question I have posed before on this forum. That is why are they now selling version 1s as the base model?
Sounds like cabellas has the pro now just without the name PRO on it. (OR YOU GOT LUCKY) You got a good deal on a pro for less!!! I like my model it is everything good people post about their 2.9 just without a vco in disc!
My opinion on that is I have one more option and that is a saturated audio in disc and a VCO in all metal,( I dont need two VCO modes) super simple to switch back and forth and as we know the GB still has a TDI in All metal.
I dont know about the other versions TDI accuracy versus disc and all metal but if I have a bouncy target and switch to all metal it usually gives a more accurate indication especially on Iron..
Your manual must be for the Cabellas model and you got a Pro (WOLF IN SHEEP's CLOTHING)....
Congrats on your new machine !!!

The boxes have the SE sticker on them and the display decal does NOT say 'Pro', and like the rest I've seen they have a ground balance reference of 82.9. The come with the 5" DD coil with the big Gold Bug sticker. I ought to check and see what he has these 'SE' versions priced at. Might be a special discount lurking there?

I just bought mine yesterday[SE]dont know how to tell what version software it has but in AM default gb is 82.9

With the SE in DISC mode, hold down the GG button and turn it on, it should say Golg 6u9 then a number.

Just got mine and reads 1.

Is that bad? good? No difference?
