Rob or anyone else who can answer this, I swing fast so should I have my my Fade Rate a little higher than Factory or Lower. right now it is on 17?

Still healing from a terrible case of Chiggers so I just walked next door and hunted a while. I have hunted these places many many times and they are trashy. Old House is a beatiful plantation type house and I have no idea how old it is. I only found one Silver dime there over the years, but I did find a Gold Safe Driving Award given by the Post Office. I gave this to the Owners Daughter since the Owner whom I knew well died several years ago. I found several pennies but only one looked to be a wheat. Got home and cleaned them up to find that I had three Wheats. A 1919D, a 1950D, and an unknown. The 1919D is in the best shape. I will have to go back and concentrate just a little more.

Was this a dumb question???

Just doing a drive by here daddy, thought I'd pipe up... I generally swing super fast too, until I hit a 'lane', then I settle down and work it... I dont have a Whites rig like you have...still, I swing super fast with no trouble...i believe fast swinging is an acquired skill? Swinging fast and not missing? Most everybody on every forum, no matter what make or model will tell you to swing slow...then you see posts from the fast swingers, like you and me...a guy cant argue with results...set up how you like and swing away...you may be the only one using your rig like this, and perhaps the only one who really knows the answer to your question, its obvious you are finding good stuff..stay in it!:clapping:
Mud.

Thanks but the V3i has a Fade Rate which for mine is set to fade I think a little faster than normal. It is on 17 I have not wrapped my head around the fact that swinging fast should this setting be faster or slower. Knowing nothing else I could argue either setting. I have swung Tesoros for years and you can rock them back and forth to get a signal every shot. I know the V3i will do this but the infinite settings still have me a little puzzled.

On a V3i you need to raise or lower your recovery speed based on your swing speed, i reckon that is what the recovery speed function is for. The lower the recovery speed the faster the machine will recover, 17 is pretty low, to determine if that low of a recovery speed suits your swing speed would practically be imposssible for someone to tell you, i think. But someone might chime in with better info. Good luck.

OK not sure if we are talking about the same thing. Mine says FADE RATE or the time it takes to fade to null. Are we talking about the same thing?

I thought you were talking about the recovery delay setting which adjust from 1-200 and 200 being the slowest for swing speed, so if you were swinging a little faster you should set your recovery delay lower for a faster recovery, i'm not familiar with fade rate term, what machine and manual are you referring to? Maybe i misunderstood your question.

I have a V3i and it is labeled Fade Rate or time it takes to fade back to threshhold. Surely the V has a Recovery setting as well just not sure where or what it is called.

I think you are confusing your SAT (self adjusting threshold) which is used only in all metal mode and has an adjustable fade rate.
Your recovery delay is a disc function. Lay some targets on the ground a coils width apart and go over them at your normal sweep speed and adjust your recovery delay accordingly. I adjust mine depending on search conditions, slow for trashy and faster for cleaner areas.

Could this be what you are talking about? if so then the hgher the number the quicker the fade rate. if not then  i'm sure Rob can help you. Good luck

Not a dumb question, the fade rate is just a personal preference. If the screen data disappears before you can read it, change it.

I did not know this affected Screen Data. Thank You mine will be increased in just a few minutes.

From the manual:

Fade

Fade older Spectragraph information.
Fade Rate ........... How quickly Spectragraph information fades. Higher numbers fade quicker.

I've had a tree being cut down all day. Yep fade rate is personal. The default is 10.
