Question about WS5 headphones.

If I understand correctly, the headphones can be used to adjust the detector's functions, such as frequency, mode, discriminate, etc.

Is this a convenient feature, and if so, how many people use it?

You can do as long as remote is off, if you have one.

As far as being convenient.
Well, you'll have to remove headphones to make adjustments ,,,and you won't see ID of tager with the headphones on your head.

I use the headphones to switch modes all the time without taking the headphones off., it's very handy IMO. I don't use numbers though.

Vance headphone tone is better sounding vs Ws5.
Tone is higher on Vance headphones. Tone is higher on ws4s too.
Working heavy iron Vance nonferrous a little easier to hear.

Had Ws5, offed them.
Have Vance.

Ear cups on ws5s are suspect too.
Ws4 and Vance,,gives a person more options for hotter weather, wind, and cold.

I had both - yes, hands down, the Vance Muff's have a much better sound than the WS 5's.
But the Vance headphones are tight fitting ( to me anyway ) and after one or two hours they became very uncomfortable.
So I took the speakers and module mount out / off of the Vance set and put everything in a pair of Killer B frames that come with high quality leather ear pads.
Now I have a great sounding set of headphones for my Deus that are very comfortable - all day long !

I sprung my Vance a little. Fit me for me now.

I planned to order the WS5's, my dealer warned me off. The Deus puck is removable from the WS4's so you can use the WS4's or transfer the puck to aftermarket over the ear phones of your choice. Or via a clip the dealer sold me modify for use on my favorite phones currently Sunray Golds. The puck is not removable from the WS5's so you are stuck if you go that route.
