Question about tones

I'm still learning my ctx3030. I'm using a couple programs that I downloaded to find coins. My success has been moderate, and enjoyable, but I ran across something I guess I don't understand.
In my downloaded programs, the tone ID profile was set on "combined tones" and that seemed fine to me. However, when i passed the coil over a coin, I had an audible noise of around 975 hz.
I wanted a coin to scream in my ears when I went over one. So I changed the sound and set it for 1200 hz.
Now when i go over a 12-42, or some similar reading, I have a really audible, high pitched squeal. That is easily identified.
So is this wrong?
thanks!
Al

Not at all. it's all about personal preference. The programable detector is an amazing piece of electronics.

Jeff is right, you can set the tones in each “bin” to whatever you want to hear. I have my “coin bin”(where Indians and up would fall) to 1200hz. ALOT of people do this for the very reason you said….it attracts your attention.
