Question about Excal II Headphone pads

vfr800

New member
I have a Excal II with the yellow headphones and would like to change the ear cushions to something softer.
I know about putting on the peltors but i,m not going to do that. So does anyone know of such replacements
or has anyone done this already.................Thanks Bruce

You might try just padding the head brace part (the part that connects the 2 earcups). I did that with mine and it spaced the headset out a little more properly and as an unexpected result the earcups fit better. I bought mine off Evil bay. Just type Excalibur :

"Headphone Cushion for Minelab Excalibur Metal Detector"

Hope it helps

Dig, I seen them there like $14.95 Thanks for the info. I still like to know about changing the ear cushions...............Thanks

Not sure if these would void the warranty, and how close they would come to fitting. They would be a hit if someone started manufacturing them I'm sure...Will get you a pic of the peltors gel seals next to the stock headphones so you can see the difference, thursday, it would be a great mod.....Joe

me too, a bit steep in price though, especially with postage to here

I have them on order. I will let everyone know if i like them or not..........

Update,
For those of you who may not like the current earpads on your Excal or feel the Gel Pads are to much money. I have installed them and i feel they are a big improvement of the stock pads, also they cut down on some of the surf noise. So well see how they hold up over the next year.
Thanks again Joe for the video. I know some people feel they cost to much but with the investment already put in for your machine and other items what is another $40.00 if it helps you be more comfortable when your hunting..............

was wondering if these pads will work on earlier excals thanks in advance Pat

The headphones should all be the same size, so they would work.........

Do you just pop off the old ones and pop on the Pelters?
I notice with mine that the seal is lacking terribly, and in the wind I could barely hear anything even with the volume all the way up...

Very easy to do, video........good luck .....joe

the head phones to let water run in and drain out. i have 4 on each ear cup....electrical tape on each hole will stop 90% of the noise..be sure to take the tape off if you go under water!
