Question about depth readings --

Friends, I have a question about depth readings with the AT Pro that I hope one or some of you can help me with. I have noticed that frequently I will swing over a clear target signal, I sweep back and forth to verify the signal and the numbers on my screen and I notice the depth the detector is telling me the target is at. When I pinpoint the target the depth of different, sometimes significantly, and usually the depth reading when I am sweeping back and forth is the correct depth, not the depth I get with the pinpointing. For example, I will get a reading of 78 telling me I might have a penny or similar coin under the coil and the depth is six inches. When I pinpoint using the AT Pro and I get the center of mass of the target the meter tells me the target is two inches down. When I dig the target, a penny, is six inches down, not two. Why is this? Shouldn't I be getting the more accurate depth reading in pin-point mode?

Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you, :help:
