I also started out on 4 tones and switched to 6 tones, for me personally it is easier to assign a different pitch for each coin I may encounter when out detecting, 6 tones if set up correctly you can pretty much put every clad coin in a different tone brake section it does take a bit of adjusting and thinking about what each coin rings up but it can be done, with a little patience
Scott Lupro (Mental Metal Detecting on youtube) has a very good coin program that works great, the only down side of Scott's coin program is you will miss some gold jewelry with his coin program if you do not tweek his settings some, I set Scott's coin program up in one custom user profile and then set it up again in a second custom user profile and tweaked it so as to not miss gold targets when coin hunting
