When you hear the siren that means the battery is low. Buying a cheap battery from a dollar store are not as good an a good name brand. Remember it take more juice to run the motor vibrator and can draw the voltage down even more to a point it will sound off like a european police siren. When the battery gets down in the 8 volt battery lever it will happen.
