Pricing question deciding question again!

This would be on a new MXT-300 with the 12" supper coil, Head set, Bullseye pin pointer II, soft case to my door price of $779.. What do you guys think about this deal? Good price? The wife and I have been going nut's and going back and forth with getting her a detector or not.. My big issue is will she really use it? I know I could always use it as a back up for my DFX but I really like my DFX and I'm not so sure I can justify it just for that.. A little more pressure on me now as we have 3 days with permission to hunt a fair grounds this week... I know it's hunted heavily each year after the fair put still it has good possibilities.. I love to beach hunt but we are 1 1/2 hours from any salt water beaches with the price of gas I would be better off with some freshwater beaches around my state. I have lots and relic hunting with cellar holes dating back to the 16&1700's many. I don't relic hunt i don't like all he trash I get overwhelmed with signals I guess.. Our fair ground hunt is 3 days away and I think there is a good chance she would have the detector for at least one if not all of those days if I was to order it today or early tomorrow.. HELP!!!!! I'm going nut's overthinking this.. We just don't have the extra money for another detector can't really justify it other then the wife wants to try it with her own detector.. But could get it if we watched out penny's for a while.. I have a few coils tht would also fit the unit all is interchangeable with my DFX.. Another great plus!! What to do? Please if you read this reply even if you don't have the time just a few words pros con's would help.. Thanks! George

George, if your wife has enough interest in the hobby that she goes out with you while you hunt, and she wants to try it herself then I think it would be a good investment. Buy her the MXT she will love it { and you to for buying it } :cheekkiss::thumbup:

Not a bad price for the MXT 300 with all of the extras delivered. Given that you and your wife can swap your existing coils from the DFX, I would say go for it. In fact, you can even use her 300 coil, not a bad option either. Once she gets the hang of the MXT and finds some good relics, you will not have to worry about her not using it.

Bob, You had given me some info on gold on my area last week thank you again for that! I was also thinking that some say that the MXT is much better for finding small gold too.. I never got the chance to check out the few places of interest with my DFX and at the very least I'll need to get a gold pan.. I'm thinking a few 5gal pales too.. I would like to keep what I'm doing privet and was thinking if I get some good signals to dig it out to a 5 gal pale and check our finds home.. Our smallest coil is the 6x10 DD but was thinking about the 3x6 DDshooter for streams and rivers around rocks.. With all this thinking my head is about to explode!! I'm going nuts!! Gold feaver? George

George you asked this question before and got two pages of replies. You even got a response from a couple with both a DFX and MXT. At this point if you are still asking you really don't want it. Rob

Rob, Please I am having a hard time with this.. It's a lot of money to spend, and I for one don't mind more responses and help me decide! Maybe I'll here that one thing that someone didn't bring up before that will help me decide..With my DFX I researched it and pulled the trigger no real issues with that choice.. After 3 years no regrets. If people still want to reply it still will be most helpful to me.. I went over other possibilities other brands, used units and because of the compatibility with stuff we already have this unit seems to be the smartest choice as we have the ability to prospect in my area too..So please people keep the help coming! Thanks! George

George, the 6 X10 coil is all you need for gold prospecting, if you get a MXT, Jimmy { Sierra } Normandi has been with Whites for over 30 years he helped designed the MXT prospecting mode around the 6 X 10 coil based on there famous GMT prospecting detector. So if you buy your wife the MXT you will have a good prospecting machine and she will have a nice coin detector as well, you have a 6 X 10 coil that will fit it. I have never use a smaller coil when prospecting. I do have a 4.5 x 7 Excelerator but I wouldn't use it hunting gold. when prospecting you want to cover as much ground as possible and as fast as possible. And even the 12" coil that comes with the MXT 300 would be a good ground covering coil for shallow nuggets. I personally would not buy a smaller coil for prospecting, but one would come in handy coin hunting in trashy areas.:whites:

Also the gold pan and buckets will be a good idea, but you should get a small sluice box. you can get then fairly cheap that way you can concentrate your diggings down to better pay dirt before you pack it home.

Bob, Thanks! Great info! With your info on the MXT being a good gold detector I'm very close.. The dealer is not pushy and said he would honer the price he gave when and if I decide on it and that's why the pressure is off a bit.. But I think the fairgrounds we got permission to hunt would be a good place for learning the MXT for my wife and I think that's why I re posted this question again.. But gold is on my mind now all the time! George

Bob,
I did some reading and I believe no sluice box's are aloud in the state only panning with a pan.. The state is NH.. George

George, My husband uses the DFX (almost 8yrs.) and I use the MXT (almost 7 yrs.). We can swap coils and it's very nice to be able to have an arsenal of them. Like we've said before, the MXT has a high resale if she doesn't like it. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate. Sure glad my Larry didn't hesitate to get mine. It's paid for itself many many times over! In fact, one of Larry's finds was over the value of all our equipment and believe me, we've got a lot! He also said, "That includes his Minelab too". You're call. Nancy

Wait till you find your first nugget!!!! GOLD FEVER  it will really get a hold of you.

Your right I remember reading no sluice boxes aloud sorry.

Nancy,
Thanks for replying again! I had one great find with the DFX that if I sold it it would almost pay for the MXT! I found 5 rings total and the last was a Nice mans large size solid Platinum wedding ring and that was the first and only time out this year so far.. My pull top's to ring's is way down from the normal 1000 to one I have seen posted. I more or less just use my detector to pass the time while my wife enjoys the beach reading and walking looking for sea glass.. Bob gave me some info that started a gold bug to runaround in my head!! Going nuts just thinking about the rivers and streams around me.. My wife got her first bit of interest in detecting when I guy found a diamond ring in front of us 3 years ago. That's why I got a detector.. Now after seeing me find that Plat ring and her taking it to a jewelry store just to make sure. Now that's the real reason why she's thinking of a detector for herself..We both like old things coins and other cool stuff.. I don't know if all this helps you out but it does help me think about what I normally would not think of just by typing it out.. George

"But gold is on my mind now all the time!", The MXT will out perform your DFX in finding gold!!

Quote:"I have a few coils that would also fit the unit all is interchangeable with my DFX.. Another great plus!!", This is my opinion is a no-brainer!!!

If your own words can convince you, think about it this way, did your wife have reservation with your purchase of the DFX?, no regrets now right? (see above quote)

Do you know how many guys would love their wife being interested in this hobby instead of complaining, and as mentioned the MXT has a great resale value, but you maybe surprised that you may decide to sell the DFX:yikes: if the need arises, instead of the MXT!!!

She supported you when buying the DFX, it's her turn!!!

GEORGE BUY THAT WOMAN AN MXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:inlove::inlove::cheekkiss::cheekkiss::clapping::clapping:

Skip,

Thanks for the reply! LOL!!! Very good! Sometimes I guess I need it spelled out for me.. Siting here with phone in hand at this moment.. I'm see $$$$$ going through my head.. Wife saying just call!!! I'll post how it goes.. I'm at 75% for it now.. Going to mull it over over another cup of coffee:nopity:. Then later in that day if we order it I have a Scotch or two.... The resale is good I guess, guessing it will still be worth $500 or so in a few years if we keep it pristine condition.. Does this sound reasonable to you guys:shrug:? Thanks again! George

I would like to thank you all for your time and help with this. As you know it was not a easy decision for us *me*! We just got off the phone with them now and we ordered it!! They threw in a open coil cover upgraded the headphones to the royal's with the L jack on them, Bullseye and soft case and came down to $775 to boot to our door! So we went for it! Now we'll just have to put it to good use..Thank you ! ALL George & Penny
