Where can i find the blue prints on a PP mode switch for my Sovereign GT since the Excal and GT are so close in circuitry Thanks Jim
They have different layouts of the switch(s) (the GT and the Excale), as well as different layouts from prior Sovereigns to the GT, so when I was wanting to do a remote PP switch for the GT the prior Sovereign how-to's weren't much help. I had to take my GT apart and figure out just what the 3 position switch of the disc iron mask on, disc iron mask on, and all metal switch positions on that one switch were dong, as well as how that related to the all metal track, all metal fixed, and PP mode positions of the other switch. A little work with a ohm meter and here's the results...2nd message down...

If you do a search for "remote pin point" or "remote PP", or "remote pp switch" or whatever using exact words, any date, in this forum, as well as in the modifications forum, you'll find further details on it, but probably the link above sums it all up in how the remote PP switch schematic/pictorial I drew up works. I tried to make that schematic/pictorial as clear cut as possible, so that even people lacking a multimeter wouldn't have to figure out witch various pin outs on the stereo jack, stock switch, and remote PP switch match up, but just the same you will need to know how to solder, or if you don'.t...Often your local RC hobby store for planes/cars will have people on staff that will solder stuff for dirt cheap. Just have it all apart and ready to go when you take it up there
Note also, that although you are cutting one wire to the stock disc switch, with or without the remote PP plugged in the stock switches still work as stock. Only when it's plugged in and the remote PP is thrown one way, will it override whatever setting the disc mode switch is set and and turn control over to whichever mode the all metal switch is set at. This way you retain stock functions of the face plate switches regardless of if the remote PP is plugged in or not, and also by setting the stock switches to whatever two modes you desire, you can toggle back and fourth between those via the remote PP.
If you get the part #'s at Radio Shack as I listed, just follow the pin #s and color codes to simply solder it up without any thought as to what goes where. As with everything in life though, use at your own risk to person or property. I can tell you though that this setup has worked flawless for me for a few years. Not one glitch...
