Poor battery performance with AT Pro:thumbdown:

You might want to try some I seen on ebay... They are selling some rated at 3000 mAh. The Duracell LSD rechargables are rated at 2300 mAh if I'm not mistaken. These are from China :-( but are very affordable. I'm using these in my 1266X with excellent results.

i get 20+ hours on my at but i do not use the iron audio except to id a target and i use ear buds because i like to keep the sun off my face so i wear a hat.i like to use the alkalites best but i am still experimenting whit other brands

I have noticed a huge difference running iron audio. not sure why that is. im going to test this hypothesis this week. i would recommend others do the same. iron audio on and then off for the full time. i used my rechargeables for a full week without charging (with heavy hunting) with iron audio off. last week i did a hunt for 4 hours with iron audio on and it killed the batteries. again, this was one time, so i need to test it again and again.

Got the white top Duracells back today recharged by my friend. He said the mAhs on each battery before recharging (this was the set that lasted 15.1 hours in my detector before going down to one bar) were in the 500's. After recharging they were all in the low 1900's, the highest around 1930.

The Duracell LSDs like the Sanyo eneloops are rated 2000 mAhs.

I just went down to one bar over the past weekend with a set of fresh Energizers I put in and got a total usage of 12.1 hours. Better than the last set of alkalines, but still significantly less than the rechargables,

Previously with rechargables I got 15.1 and 18.7 hours.

All hunting was with iron audio on.

At this point I don't see any reason to use anything but LSD rechargables with my AT Pro. No performance difference that I can ascertain between the two types of batteries. And once I put out the initial cost of about $2.00-$2.25 per battery, it only costs about 4 cents worth of electricity to recharge each battery.

You mean after 8.2 HRs you went to the Bar down Town?? Or the Batt Bar on your Detector?? LOL
Happy New Years to all, Mickfin

different battery chargers definitely give varying recharge results for sure. In my work we have various battery chargers to keep our AA batteries charged for a moisture meter . Some only charge the batteries to a combined voltage of 4.2 V .(This is for the 4 batteries needed)....one charger can give 4.4 volts... on occasion.. if you have many hours to spare... and then its not a guarantee. The one charger that gave a consistent 4.4 volts was a energizer fast charger( at a previous site I worked at) Even the smart charger (or not too smart) I have now , that looks after every cell individually , doctors it, pampers it, wraps it in cotton wool, and sings to it,,, only charges the 4 batteries to 4.2 volts combined. One of the neat features however of the latest charger is that it charges alkaline non -rechargeables . Can get several recharges out of the batteries we usually throw out after the first use
I dont know how true it is , but I have heard that a good pair of 150 + ohm head-phones like the Killer Bs or Sunray pro golds give better battery life because not so much volumn is needed.....any-one feel free to comment on this?

I don't know about everyone else, but when I was running an Ace 250 the year before last I would shut my detector off when digging a target. And will likely do the same with the AT Pro. I am a mizer when it comes to battery life. I'll run those alkalines right down to nothing before I buy more. Maybe some rechargables are in order for the AT Pro.

Hey Marcomo,
I just changed the batteries Garrett put in with my upgrade. They were down to one bar after 8.5 hours. I usually run in Pro Zero with IA on.

Mac, if your AT is like mine (and 8.5 hrs with alkalines sounds like it is) you might want to give the rechargables a shot. Once you get past the initial cost, they save you a lot. Plus you don't have to change the batteries as often. Get a couple of extra battery holders from Garrett and changing the batteries is a snap, about 30 seconds out in the field.

The nice things about the newer style LSD (low self discharge) batteries is that unlike the previous gen batts, these will keep their charge a whole lot longer when not in use. Sanyo claims 75% power after three years of non-use with their most recent eneloops.

I switched to the LSD rechargeables recently, and have to say, I'm very impressed. I was about to buy the Sanyo bundle with their 4 battery charger, but read that the Sony charger is better in that you can charge any combo of sizes (it has 4 discrete 'smart' circuits, according to an engineer's review) and is a little faster, so I wound up buying their bundle of 4 CycleEnergy AAs with their BCG-34HLD charger, 8 Eneloop AAs (&4 AAAs), and 4 AATenergy (lower cost Chinese LSDs) to try them out.

I'm only on my second cycle with them all, but can say that they all outlast the premium alkalines that I had been using. In my unscientific testing, I've been getting at least 4 hunts (avg. 4 hours) out of them. I bought mine at Amazon.
