Polar Plot

Can someone explain how to use polar plot and is it better than analize mode.Is there a video out there that shows what a good target looks like.V3i is A1 to me and I would never go for second best again. Thanks Guys

I like polar plot better than the default sizing feature on the V3i. It is a real time vector graph which shows the VDI numbers visually in non-normalized data. The dominant frequency has the strongest line. Straight lines usually mean coins, while curvy lines can be buttons and squiggly lines mean trash

The following example shows what a US quarter may look like on the polar plot screen. Notice the dominant frequency is green (2.5KHz), red (7.5KHz) and barely visible is blue (22.5Khz). You can see that the coin barely hits in the 22.5KHz frequency.

Here is a junk target:

Like the sizing feature it may not be useful on deep targets.

I have some more screen caps of buttons as seen on the Polar Plot on my site along with some great tips and videos for V3i users. The link is in my profile, or PM me.

Is the polar plot more trust worthy to be correct.

Sometimes I try to out guess PP. It says coin, and I say pull tab. Other times I say coin, PP says bottle cap. More often than not, the V3i is right.

AMEN - I have noticed when I try to grow a brain and dig a target the V3 via the PP has told me is trash I normally end up saying "wow a bottle cap (or other trash) yes V3, you were right and I was wrong to doubt you." It really is an outstanding machine and every day I get better and better with it.

Neil is right!

As far as which is better.....I think its what works better for you...in your mind. Otherwise, I think they are about the same...just a different way of doing it.
