Polar Plot

I agree...If you can hear signals well.....all the better....more sensory input will help you figure out things and/or be more confident on your targets. I haven't even used my headphones yet but no doubt they will be a benefit on recognizing the right signals. I am sure once I use the headphones, my understanding and finds will increase at a faster rate.

Here is my hunt today;
I just recently got my v3 upgrade and decided to head out and check some of

the new v3i features. I went directly right next to a power substation so the

V3i was going crazy. I turned it down a bit and changed the freq. It was now

stable to hunt. This area is loaded...I mean loaded with trash. Can slaw, old

& new bottle caps, pull tabs and foil. When I used the mine lab, I was able to

find things but basically only when the targets were by themselves. The

trash mostly drove me crazy. Not so with the v3. I went from target to

target fairly quickly and analyzed each one. There was 2 that stood out from

the rest...a nice 3 diamond 3/4 carat diamond ring and then a nice wedding

band. I could fairly easily recognize good targets from junk. There was a

couple of times...I was not sure or got fooled but most of the time, I knew

coins & rings from junk. The v3(i) wins hands down on cluing you in on what

is what,. I had to mostly guess before when looking at VDI

numbers etc. and now I can be reasonably sure. I get better each time I go

out and learn new aspects of the analyze screen. I have also found more

valuable items with the v3(i). The v3i is a absolute keeper in my book!

Need to say, I was too busy finding things to check out the new features.

I was able to check out the polar plot again for a little while, I , at the present, still don't see any major differences between it and analyze, with one exception....For some people, I would say....It might be easier for them to distinguish targets with polar plot as opposed to analyze. It very well might be the similar or same information just displayed differently. In any case, it might be easier to figure your targets out by looking at opposing axis lines rather than various wave patterns. I like the wave patterns at the present but time will tell if I will change. I think, maybe it depends on how your brain works and just which one is best for you.

Just a follow up question. The V3i still has the analyze screen doesn't it? I just want to make sure this is in addition to the analyze screen from before, and not instead of. I like looking at the referrence to target size and would not want to give that up. thanks in advance.

Is the trigger now a FOUR position switch? I was told that there is no hardware change with the V3i, so my assumption is that this needs to be changed in the Configuration menu. This means that you will have a choice between the Polar Plot OR the Analyze screen, and would not be able to toggle between the two without changing the configuration settings.

Am I correct in this assumption?

You choose one or the other, or pinpoint or prospect etc. There is no hardware change. Some of the very first units will have the seats for the pod screws replaced. This has nothing to do will the upgrade. It's just your Whites service at work. [attachment 160558 Reading.gif] Rob
