Plug in Headphone Volume

Dan Judd

New member
Is there some way to lower the plug in headphone volume? I am not using the wireless headphones, and my wired headphones do not have a volume control. I can adjust the "Plug-in Headphone" "Target Volume" control over a range of 48-69, 48 is quieter the 69, but still to loud. Any way to throttle back short of a new pair of headphones or an inline attenuator?

I use a pair of Sony earbuds w/inline valium control. Cooler in summer....Can find online or Best Buy.

I do the same. My favorite are a pair of under the chin Sony dictation headphones that don't have inline volume control. Kind hard to wear my broad rimmed hat with regular headphones. Kind of a skin cancer avoidance thing. And yes, they are much cooler - no sweaty ears!

Even though Whites added a volume control to the Vision, looks like you will still need a headphones with a level control. Maybe in the next firmware update? (hint, hint)

Hi Dan,

Probably need headphones with a volume control but I'll play around with my Vision and see if I can find anything. You think if you have a volume you'd be able to adjust all the way down.

Thanks Steve,

Actually I think the Sound Effects sliders only control the start up, shutdown, and key click beeps. I needed to find these anyway so that when I turn my machine on and off, or change settings I don't go deaf. It doesn't appear to change the target volume. Interesting the Sound Effects controls have a range from 0-69. The Target volume controls only go from 48-69. I suspect that Whites purposely limited the lower range so that they wouldn't have to deal with customers complaining that they detector was broken when the problem is that they accidentally turned the Target Volume all the way down. If that's the case then it would be nice if the would revise the lower limit in future firmware to the 20-30 range. Would be nice to use the built in speaker without folks on the other side of the park hearing the beeps.:twodetecting:

Other than the volume issue, I have nothing but praise for the Vision! Wanted to get out today and use it the weather is the pits.

One of the things that I would like to see from the folks in Sweet Home is a comparison matrix that lists all the built in programs and the values for each setting. Would be a great way to understand what each program is doing.

Hi Dan,

Darn, thought I had it. The settings under configure control the volume of the sound effects, like when you push a button.

I was going by what is in the draft manual but when I try it there still is a loud target sound even when set to zero.

I'll keep digging.
