Please help me out on cx plus..............

decision!!! I was ready to buy one when a friend of mine , suggested that it is a poor choice for gold ring and jewelry hunting!!! ( The kind of hunting I like) He says that the 6.5 Khz frequency is hot on silver not good on gold. Further more he says it's an " arm buster" and that it's balance is poor. I had located and arm rest for the CX plus but he claimed it does very little to help. I have the Gold Scorpion but I'd like a target ID unit that is simple to run. I thought that I had settled on the CX plus. Now I'm not so sure ??? I need tips and help from people who have used this unit. Is it hard on the arm?? Is it not a good choice for park and field ring/jewelry hunting??? Guys.....help convince me to get one..........thanks for all your replies.

I don't have the plus, but I have the CX lll as well as the original Grand Master Hunter(same body design and kHz). They are just fine for detecting gold jewelry. Okay, they won't detect a match head sized nugget as deeply as the Scorpion can in all metal mode, but they do have an all metal mode(which rocks)and is a deep seeker on coin and ring sized metal objects. Motion discriminate mode is great as well.
This has got to be the most well balanced detectors that there is. If you try to swing it like a typical detector I guess it could where ya out, but it's not designed to be swung like that. You simply move your wrist(not swing the forearm. Now, if you're using the armrest you would swing with the forearm, but the only time that I use the armrest is when I'm using the 10"x14" DD or the 12.5"Crossfire Deepseeker. In fact, whenever I use my GTI 2500 or Infinium LS with the 10"x14" DD I need to use a bungee/chest harness hook up, but the GMH is so well balanced that, while using the armrest, I don't need to use a bungee with the larger searchcoils.
To each his own, though. Some guys don't like the ergonomics of the GMH. It's very different than other modern detectors, but used properly it's actually much less tiring.
Best of luck to ya!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

P.S.
You can also add the two box depth multiplier to it and go really very deep on larger targets while ignoring smaller trash metal items.
