Pinpointers

New member
Thinking about getting a pinpointer but am undecided on either the Vibra-Probe 570 or The Treasure Mate by Tesoro, you guys use these? Thanks, John

The Harbor Freight pinpointers may be 15 bucks but they are on baaaaackorder.Mine is scheduled to be shipped out the 27th and I ordered it about 3 weeks ago.

I agree with you. There is also TinyTech pinpointers. Twice as much$$ but ships in a few days. None of this Harbor Frieght Bull S&^%$
.I'd go with an inexpensive pinpointer before I spent $160 dollars for somethis really fancy.

I went to the local HF store and they didn't have any so I ordered on and it's been on back-order since 5/18, I checked with the local HF store again recently (7/3) and they had three in store so I hurried grabbed 2 of them (just in case). Keep checking with the store. Oh yeah, the store was charging $16.99 per unit and the on line purchase was for $14.99. I Printed out a copy of the unit from their site so when I went to the store I didn't have to describe what I wanted and I could just show them since it has the item # on it, anyway, since I had the printout showing the original price, they sold them to me for $14.99 each. They were super nice about it. Keep checking your local HF, I also found a 3 qrt feed scoop for $2.99, now I just have to drill in some holes and it's set.

I use a Tiny Tec.

Cheep and works off the tip only.

Adjustable sensativity.

Auto shut off, or manual off and on.

LED head light. Works in the dark.

I can hear it with my headphones on.

It has a signal light also. No vibration on my model.

Got three $1.00 coins with it and I think

an 18 month warranty. Mine was cheeper

than they are now.

It doesn't have a sturdy body, but I have

had no trouble with it in 6 month of use.

Use 1 - 9 volt battery.

I wish I had a Treasure Mate, but don't miss it.

Heck, I'd like a Bull's Eye, but don't miss it.

Tiny Tec works good for me.

The stay sold out at Harbor Freight.

Happy Hunting,

I use the TinyTec Deluxe - Cost me $44 + shipping. Best money spent on this hobby so far. Hard tip to probe with, easy to hear with the headphones on AND automatic shut-off if you forget. Flat design fits easily into my pouch.Would definitely recommend this one without hesitation.

I love the tiny tec and would recommend it completely. In moist soil i just use it to probe the ground to find my target, no plug cutout needed!!!

Here is a web disscusion about the DTS-POR.
I think it's about the same thing.

Sherlock DTS-PRO Pinpointer??

Hi.... I have a sherlock DTS-PRO "approx. 2 yrs old" with very little use because when i go out detecting & use it the battery cover always falls off leaving me to searching for the cover instead of my intended search. i tried searching for the manufacturer but came up with nothing. Does anyone have a web-site address or phone number to this company as when I purchased the pinpointer all that came in the cardboard box was some simple instructions...... Thanks!!!

Re: Sherlock DTS-PRO Pinpointer??

Hey Dan. These are Chinese and sell to distributors for 9 bucks. Tape the cover on or chuck it and get a Vibraprobe. Heavy duty and worth the money.

Hi Tony...Thanks. When I bought it I paid $89.00 for Sherlock....I see a few dealers online selling these & they are still selling for around the same price range. talk about making a profit!!!

Actually its the distributors who make the big profit. We have to get them at 30% off of 100.00 retail. Talk about a markup.
If I wanted to get them for 9 bucks I would have to buy in quantity. These are akin to the Automax and others. Way over inflated pricewise.

Happy Hunting,

I have a tinytec, it worked great up untin about a week and a half ago. Now I can't barely hear the tone anymore, and sometimes I can be touching my digging tool and it wont make a beep... I stoped using it my last hunt, now I am barrowing my buddies Bullseye.

The tinytec worked great, but I guess I was too hard on it.
