PI metal detector kit

New member
I am looking for a kit to build this winter. I do not want plans only. The kit needs to include the circuit board, parts and instructions. Also I may want to buy a homemade one-already made if it is what I am looking for. Let me know what you have. You can email me direct or give me your contact information. Thank-You-

I've seen PI kits for sale on ebay.com They were knock offs of the surfmaster PI pro's keep an eye out for them there he lists them every few weeks.

I listed 3 PI's PCB's built, don't have anymore. Working on Tesoro Golden Sabres at the moment and another PI
Building your own is fun...............sent you a PM
You can get PI kits or PCB's from Silverdog
Barracuda
Surfmaster Long Board
Hammerhead

The silverdog kits are very good, top quality pcb's
you have to wind your own coils for most kits.

I assume these kits aren't for newbies.... I noticed he has an assembled board already. How hard is it to get an assembled board working as a MD? Can one purchase a White's coil and use it with this?

As a newbie you can still build a working unit, there is still a learning process to go thru.
All in all the Surfmaster PI is an easy project to start with. If you can solder, you can build one.
Your best bet is to go google Geotech Forums and read and read, then decide if building is something you would like to try.
Winters coming up, so why not give it a shot.
Yes the White's Surfmaster PI coils will work but, lot cheaper to make your own simple mono coil.

Here's a good website to learn about electronics for newbies:

Thanks Sven. It seems like a really fun project...and to build a fine detector so cheaply has allure. I have modded my excal a bit, so building a shaft and housing are tasks I could probably accomplish easily. I can solder moderately well. However, winding a coil seems a bit daunting. Thanks for the link. I will check it out.

Thunter, you should be able to find what you are looking for here.
