Perplexed by the Etrac..

Gannon said:
I've had the Etrac for about a month. And it seems to me I've been given the keys to a submarine.

I hunt parks and some permissions mostly and a few churches in Tennessee.

Moderate trashy and some areas have a lot of nails.

Today using Andy S pattern I was hitting a semi solid 12/46-17-45 on 3 saparate times in thinking silver!!!

Nope all 3 were nails!!

Any help or advice helps. I've read the twice.

Thanks
G

Boy I know what you mean and I figured this would be easy. But I have no plans of giving up there is gold out there to be found. Keep on trucking!:detecting:

Well, first time out today and I dug a LOT of nails and one copper 1980 penny...

You will get a lot of nails at 12-40 and 12-41. Turn 90 degrees on it. Turns to iron? Move along. Only dig good two way hits until you're comfortable enough to investigate the ones that respond, but don't respond with a textbook two way hit. I don't dig numbers below 12-42 UNLESS the depth is approaching the 8-9" mark. With ANY coil...

Turn down your Gain

Yep...I've been trying to get the happy medium just right with Manual Sensitivity and Gain. It's obviously somewhat site dependent but overall you're right. Running Manual Sensitivity right to the edge of instability and high Gain don't mix very well.
