Park pattern mode and ptrn file. Ray can you make this a sticky.

I found the instruction guide for the xchange and it helped me download you pattern. Thank you for it. I can't wait to use it. Ray; I have a treasure sight where a number of jars filled with gold coins are told to be. It is a 50 ac. field which is a is hard but the ground is full of every type of metal you can think of; iron, coper, cast iron, alu. barb wire, and the money is thought to be over 3 ft. What kind of pattern would you think would work best. I have tried a number of thing but just go away shaking my head.

Hi Bill, I tried your park program on my E-Trac yesterday and it worked very well. I had my 12" x 10" SEF coil on and will try the program next time with the X-5. The trash is very thick in the park and it will be interesting to see if the X-5 works any better. I found 20+ coins in the well worked park and only had a few pull tabs to dig. The pull tabs were iffy but I have only a few hours on my E-Trac so wanted to make sure my ears were working. I was real excited on one target as it had a real good sound but I was not sure because of the numbers. It turned out to be a nickel like I had thought. It made my day as nickels are tough with any machine because of the pull tab problem. Thank you for putting the program together. :detecting:

Hello Bill_S,

I am new to MD and I followed one of your youtube videos to this forum. I guess I just wanted to say "I was impressed by your video of the trashy park work AND you showed me exactly how to pinpoint objects by tone". The other thing that impressed me was your technique, the fact that when you left an area you couldn't even tell you were there. The way you extracted the plug, used the towel and then put everythign back in the whole and closed it up was for me very informative. I commend you, good job!

As I said I am new to this hobby, I just purchased my machine yesterday and it won't arrive until next week. In the meantime I will be watching as many videos as possible. I did have one question for you, how will gold appear and sound on the E-Trac screen? Also, can we search any public areas (ie.. parks, camping areas etc..)? I am concerned about getting in trouble with the law or having issues with people questioning me while searching. I understand if it is PRIVATE land to get permission but an not sure about PUBLIC areas.

Ok, time for me to introduce myself under the newbie section...

Thanks again for you videos!

Thanks for the comments. Gold can fall anywhere from foil to the coins area. Shallow gold would probably be close to the 12 line but will vary in the conductive number depending on how big it is. The sound would be according to where it hit if you are multi tone. As far as keeping out of trouble it would be best to check with the park or place you plan to hunt. I am fortunate that all the parks around me allow metal detecting. Another thing is to stick with a smaller hand held digger in public places. Dont take a shovel in them or you will most likely get kicked out and ruin it for everyone else. Good luck on your hunts.........;o)

I have been using this pattern almost exclusively in parks where I do not expect gold jewelry/rings...I use a modified version of this to hunt for jewelry...

HH,

Nice pattern for hunting US coins!

You will get some gold with this pattern but it was not made for gold so much as to help discriminate out unwanted targets in real trashy park that are loaded with pulltabs, can slaw, aluminum foil and the likes. You can expect to get about the same depth on silver as any other pattern.

What Control Settings do you use with this pattern ? Curious what settings work best in trashy areas/or just when using this pattern?. If you would please list each setting of how you have yours set up will be very helpful ! Thanks !!

I do not have the detector anymore but will try to remember the best I can. I know I always used the high trash setting, recovery deep on, fast off, multi tone. The mode file that you can download has all the settings in it.

Someone please explain to me how to use E-trac exchange to download this pattern and others. I've read the instruction manual and Andy's book and some of the explanations on this thread but I still don't get it. When I try to download it my computer says Adobe doesn't recognise this file because it was sent as an attachment or not decoded?????????? Maybe I'm to dense to use the E-trac. HELP!!!!!

It sounds to me like adobe is trying to open the file. Download the mode file. Do not try to open or run it because you will not be able to. You can not double click on it and open it that way. You connect the Etrac to the computer with the USB cable and turn it on and then open the xchange software. On the right hand side of the screen there should be a drop down box that says, I want to.....When you click on the drop down arrow one of the choices should be "open mode from a file". Now you browse to the location you put the downloaded mode file, desktop is a good place to save it to. Next click on the same drop down and choose, Upload mode to the Etrac. Then the box below will let you select what slot you want to put it in. Next click the upload button and that should do it. If not I will try to make a video tomorrow and post it here.

Downloaded this to e=trac exchange on windows 8 computer and can't find it anywhere, when I do it says it's corrupted

Thanks Bill for the pattern. It comes in handy for trashy areas when I'm not in the mood to listen to all the ear candy from the Sabisch coin pattern. Although I have found a lot of stuff using his pattern.
