Paper Money found while Looting

Hey All,

I think most of us have eyeballed paper money while detecting or strolling somewhere. I think the biggest bill I ever found at the beach was a $20. The corner of the bill was protruding just above the dry sand. My daughter found a $50. last year at the beach while tanning. The funniest thing that ever happened related to this subject was when my son and I were riding our bicycles. We rode through a parking lot and saw many bills just sort of blowing around. That must have been comical because we were going crazy trying to chase down those bills. I fell off my bike in pursuit of one and my son wasn't doing much better. We ended up with thirteen one dollar bills in that fiasco. But it sure was fun.

hi , last year on my way to detect i found a total of 190.00 i was walking up to the beach and found a 20 here a fiffty there and so on , total of 190.00 scatterd aroud, that was fun

Six years ago I found an 18kt money clip the size of a credit card with a diamond encrusted cursive "S" on the front, in ankle deep fluffy sand. It must have weighed anywhere from 4-6 ounces, and it had $480 clipped to it!!! I had only been hunting for about 45 minutes, but I figured the whole thing was too good to be true, so I headed for the car. Well, I was right. As I was heading up the slope of wet sand, two men came running over to me, and one of them was crying. The guy who was crying said, "Does that thing find metal?" I almost melted into the sand. "Why, what did you lose?" I asked in defeat. "My grandfathers money clip!!! It's a family heirloom."

To make a long story short, he perfectly described the clip I had found. I handed it to him, and he promptly stripped off the four hundred and eighty bucks and slapped it in my hand. That was the greatest reward I've ever received, and the most cash I have ever "found.":shrug::clap:

I was driving home one day from a bad detecting trip. I was on the four lane and I saw this little whirlwind start in the road ahead of me. As I got closer I could see it was green and I was like what the heck is that. Then I was like it looks like money. I pulled over and got out and it was just flying all over the place on both sides of the four lane. The traffic was heavy but I started tracking it down. I kept thinking someone else would stop and claim it but they never did. I stayed about an hour and picked up 365.00. I also saw a brown backed c heck book in the middle of the road and knew it would be the proof of who it beloned to. I got it and returned the money to it's owner. When I called him and told him I had his money and he could come and get it, he wanted to know if I couldn't bring it to his house lol. I told him no he could come get it. He did get me $50 which I tried hard to refuse but he left it lying on the table when he left.

I ALWAYS investigate empty cigarette packs on the beach. On at least 3 occasions over the last 2 years, I've found cash in them. Your machine will sound off on the foil if they're buried. I believe there's a better chance of success on the beach than anywhere else. Stash your cash in the cigs, get in the water, and high tide takes your towel and whatever's on it while you're gone. Found a small bag of pot like that, too!

i found 200.00 in cash in a ciggratte box....check those boxes.....:detecting::clapping::minelab:

Hey, not be be a smart @$$, but could we refrain from calling what we do "LOOTING"?

Our hobby is under attack all the time and anyone who visits this site sees looting and would think we are doing something we should be shot for.

We need to put our best foot forward. Finding a ring or property and returning it to its rightful owner is the kind of story I love to read about.

LOOTING is not something I want to be part of.

Words are powerful and we need to be better at representing the hobby we are part of.

Teh most that I have found, was a crisp 100$ bill, soaked, in a parking lot, broad daylight. People everywhere. I never did see anything the newspaper...

My friend and I were walking across a parking lot to the beach to go hunting. My friend picked up a neatly folded white envelope and decided not to open it until we got to the beach. Inside were seven 100.00 dollar bills and nothing to indicate who owned them.

I had 5$ float over to me one Memorial weekend....no lie. Its not the large amount like some of the others on here but this bill actually swam its way over to me. Saw it coming a good 30 seconds before I realized it was money.

Did you arrest yourself on the spot? :lmfao:

Hi Folks; Kudos to Steve from Ohio on that heads up.:thumbup: One day I'm going out of the train station via an escalator.I looked up and saw an manilla envelope. In it were 9 MO's for $400.00 each, 7 for $250 each, 3 for $200 each, 5 for $125 each and 1 for $280. Thats $6,855 folks. Thing is everyone of them were "completely" blank. I looked around and saw a local college right there.I went in and in the lobby was this young guy crying his heart out. I asked some other peope what was going on.Turns out he was the guy who lost the MO's.I didn't have the heart to play dumb.I walked over and gave it to him.He cried even harder.After he recmposed himself he told everyone what I had done.They all stood up and cheered me.I was mortified.!!!!:blush: They said thanks and I left.Before I did I got his number.He is still doing well in school and I still smile.How much is that worth???? PEACE:RONB
