I am new at this. Have heard of overlays and am curious if they help. Tell me your experiences and where did you get them?

It works great.You take,say an 1840 map of your area and the scale is 1 mile to one inch.Then you get a new map of the same area and the scale might be 3 miles to one inch.What you do now is shrink the new map on a copyer until you get it down to one mile to an inch(use a ruler to check it.Then make a clear copy of the new map and lay it on top of the old one Now you have a new map with 1840s houses and road on it.Also Delorme.com makes a cd called TOPOQUADS USA that is good to have to get your new mapto work with.I cant begin to tell you how many civil war relics iv found working with maps this way.
