Outlaw or TID unit

Texadillo....I don't rely on TID, just an option that is handy sometimes to ID empty .22 rimfire shells. I hunt a lot of old houses and abandoned one room school houses, torn down old churches etc. and I'll be darned if every kid didn't have a .22 rifle in those days. It gets overwhelming in some places, easy to ID on the Toltec 100... the needle doesn't even move on the meter and it saves my back.

If you looking for a screen machine , I'd check out other machines than the at pro, I have used it and found the target separation poor. I did try other modes and settings.that long bell tone is a deal breaker for me. I'd check out the fors core. .....but I don't think that you're missing much using the Tesoro

Randy I can certainly see how a visual unit could help while hunting areas like you mention... infested with pesky targets of the same type. I really hate to use any discrimination while hunting so usually I'll try to find a bit cleaner ground so I can enjoy my day:surrender: Ha! Also wanted to say I agree with you about some of those "Old Dinosaurs"

Interesting. Thanks, Clad. Wonder why the AT Pro is so popular--maybe it's Nugget Noggin's fault..

I honestly think a lot of my problems with the Outlaw are related to that crazy Retune button and the half-down/all-the-way down and no-motion all metal mode. I've read that pressing the Retune button when you're close to metal (or over a target) kills your depth because you're detuning to the nearby metal. Wuh??? That's a head-scratcher... If that's the case, I just may not be intelligent enough to use this unit.

Off topic, but I was just re-reading the user manual on Tesoro.com to double-check and I was surprised at the typos and poor punctuation. This one is my favorite: "Fied Use". I assume they meant "Field".

the red button was a great idea that didn't work  detune is to zero in on a target when pin pointing, I don't use it to pin point don't think I use any pin point button on a Tesoro.

just use the red button when changing coils to reset the electronics hold the coil in the air after GB etc. and push it all the way in , then only use if you want to nuke Russia or well who ever :bouncy:
