Ordered the parts to modify my Lobo ST

My mods will be:

Will be adding a manual Ground balance pot for the Disc mode.

Will be adding a second Discriminator pot and a switch for Disc 1 or Disc 2. Basically creating a coin check switch. Disc 1 will always be set for iron rejection. Disc 2 set to reject just below coins. Toyed with the idea of two variable resisters and just using a switch as a coin checker like a Troy Shadow, but in the end decided a second pot would be more versitile.

Right now I'm thinking about putting all this in a Compadre housing mounted on the rod in the normal position so everything would be at my finger tips.
Disc Ground Balance, Disc 2 pot, Disc 1/Disc 2 switch, and moving the Disc/All Metal switch up there too.

I'd leave all the Compadre guts and pot in place so I could still use it as a compadre if I wanted to.

Or second option will be to keep the ground balance and Disc 2 pot close to the Lobo Box, and just wire the Disc1/Disc 2 switch and the AM/Disc mod switch to the front.

Still thinking about the best way. But either way, by this time next month my Lobo will be smoking!

Just got one of these, fun little machine.

Since i will use it mainly for park hunting I swopped out the coil for one of those new 11x8 coils, first marked and then turned the R33 trimpot a little counterclockwise to set the ground balance more towards the negative side.

Now after replacing the coil and setting the disc ground balance more negative it is a little too sparky with the disc set at 1 where i hunt, but set it at a hair under 2 and it calms down, pics up anything non iron and i can run the sensitivity all the way in the red zone past sens10, without the machine becoming unstable.

Still debating wheter i should add an actual manual ground balance pot for the disc circuit, that would really compliment this detector..

Did you do any air tests with the coil especially on silver dimes, silver quarters, halves, etc? Can you get any better than 8 inches? Thats all I could get with the stock coil until I tweaked one of them pots you mentioned. Then I gained 4 inches on quarters and halves but the same 8 inch on dimes and pennies with the 9 x8 coil and it chattered more.

The white 9 x 8 coil isn't the best concentric coil to use on the Lobo ST. The brown 8" open round concentric is the best.

what does the 11 x 8 coil cost and exactly which pots are you guys tweaking and how? How do I find them?
A circuit board photo would sure help.? Are the pots numbered on the board? Been so long since I tweaked mine, I cannot remember just what I did?
Thanks.
