Managed to slip out for a short hunt to a hay field that has a couple early cabin sites. This one has been stingy only giving up a Shield Nickle on a previous hunt. Trust me there are lots of targets and iron just not many keepers. This one was a solid 17 but was difficult to get over due to the iron concentration. It was just one year off from the Holy Grail "77"

ya you just missed the KEY date, I actally found an 1877 in really great shape digging a dump , and did not know it was rare and have lost it ,that was back in the 80,s when i was more of a bottle digger
