One Christmas Eve back in the 40's in my house

that many of us had similar experiences growing up. Many of us didn't have much back then but it didn't seem to make much difference to us. I don't remember envying the ones that did because frankly, I didn't know many of them. Most of my friends lived much like we did, with the exception that some had indoor plumbing.

I don't remember ever feeling deprived or poor. My mother tells me storys and it makes me realize that we were but we made do.

It was a good childhood

that basement, could see it in my mind from your story. You should do this more often! It made my emotions flow with you, you sure were a tough little guy! your mom and my mom would have gotten along just fine. Thankss for this wonderful Christmas story!

in doing so I dig back to an era that things were much simpler, at least it seemed so at the time.

My mother said I got the times wrong though. She said I always woke up around two or two thirty in the morning and started driving everyone nuts from that time on. I guess that is possible :D
