I want to buy a new water proof camera, there are only a few out there. I wanted it to be water proof and one that will work well in cold days and can take GOOD close up pics. I was looking at the Olympus Stylus Tough-8000 but I'm not sure. Any of you folks got an idea?
Thanks

I just got a new olympus 1050 on ebay from TRi City Camera for 200 bucks, it came with 4g memory, case, tripod, cleaning kit and the olympus master 2 program, its water proof to 10ft, shock proof, it also has the tap control, if you get one at Best Buy plan on spending 250 bucks more by the time you get all the acessories, i also recomend the orange floating strap hope this helps http://cgi.ebay.com/Olympus-Stylus-1050-BLACK-Digital-Camera-4GB-Kit-NEW_W0QQitemZ390079930460QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigital_Cameras?hash=item5ad293605c&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262.Here ya go

I'd look for a good 'WATERPROOF' case first and then I'd look at the cameras that's made to fit in it. Waterproof to 10' just means it'll take some splashing and survive a dunking, for awhile, until the seals start to deteoriate from sun, sand, and water over time and then you'll see a leak and destruction. There are some cameras that are made for diving, they are pricey, and they will survive anything you can do to them if you maintain the O-rings.
You don't need to look at the high price case for the high price camera. Just look at the various cases for the low end digitals and you'll find some reasonably priced that will improve your chances for a underwater camera that will live as long as you take prope care of it. I wouldn't trust anything except a case desinged for diving if I wanted to put my $200 camera into the water. If you are interested in the high end stuff just for giggles, Google Joe Liburdi and look at his stuff. Jim
