I haven't posted any finds in a long, long time. Figured that pictures of a handful of clad every now and then would get kinda of old. Well I got a surprise on this hunt. Went to the oldest city park in town that I know has been used before the 1950's because I used to go to it back in the mid 50's myself. On the way over there I was thinking of all the old places where people played and picnicked and had visions of silver filling my pouch. Alas to my surprise, the park had been renovated and was completely changed. There once was a large hill on which kids used to roll down and play "King of the Hill ". I thought, they surely lost some coins there. Another surprise, the hill was completely gone and replaced by a dog park. Bummer. So I commenced to hunt in the new bark chip tot lot. Was finding the usual clad and coat snaps, barrettes, and was surprised at the small amount of trash. I found the $1 coin next to the swings. Thought it may have been the dreaded buried can, but the signal wasn't large enough for that. So I dug down it the bark chips about two inches and, surprise, there she was. Then the tots started showing up. Must have been about thirty of them and I had to move on. Found a part of the park that hadn't been re-done. There was a huge live oak tree down a hill that had large branches that dip down to the ground. I figured that at some time in the past, people climbed on picnicked around the tree. Well another surprise. I found the two wheaties there. Maybe next trip and more thorough searching I'll come up with some silver.
