old fisher 1265 still has it

Thanks Shooter for the info...I've read the audio on the 1265x also reads a deeper target as a softer tone, while the 1266x emits all targets the same volume no matter what depth,(an important difference between the 1265x and 1266x-overlooked by many users)..

A softer tone?
All targets the same volume?

With the 1266 a deep small target will be more 'Faint' or distant than shollow targets.
Both detectors are single tone!

I was wondering how does the weight balance compare to the E-trac ? I have been looking for a light weight second machine to rest my bad shoulder. I have had CZ's before but never a 1200 machine. I was always curious about them. The 1265 because of its legendary depth and great modulated audio was always the machine I was most curious about.

They are about the same weight as the CZ's are.

I don't have a 1265 but I have a well used 1236X-2 that I bought for 100 bucks, I bought a 3 3/4" coil to go with the stock 8"
I use it all the time in ghost towns, sawmills and old homesites. It brings home the relics and coins.
I have a Compass XP that does a little better in iron but not by much, the 1236 is deeper and lighter.

I feel as confident using my old Los Banos 1236X-2 as I do walking the East Texas deer woods with my Grandpa's old Marlin 30-30

Enjoying my old age with my older detectors, keeping it simple.

Isn't that really what it's all about.

This is my 3rd 1236X-2, my kids will sell this one at an estate sale when I kick the bucket.

On the 1265x the shallow targets are loud and distant targets are faint. On the 1266x, it has an audio boost that makes distant targets sound as loud (as shallow) and the dual sensitivity knob was reversed. Their was a short lived first version of the 1265x that had a plastic coil connector (box to cable), it wasn't threaded......(but pushed in and then turned 1/2 way)...it also ran at a diffrent frequency than version two 1265x . Both units (with metal connectors) are deep, but it depends on ground conditions as to which is deeper. Some claim that the first version 1266 (with white spider coil) are hotter than any. Love them all. Very dependable and batteries run forever.
