Old farm disc and an old car

Finally had a little decent weather to get out. Had permission to visit two older home sites, one with the original house still standing the other had been demolished.

The demolished site we missed the house site but found where the farm equipment was stored, a lot of it was still above ground. Hit an interesting solid 46 on the Legend which is normally a dime but it had a bar of ferrous. Ended up being a cultivator disc. The farmer looked at it and without hesitation said it was from a horse drawn piece. The spindle hole in the middle is only about an inch in diameter which was a dead giveaway.

In the second photo was another place we made a quick walk thru. The treasure there was a 1960 Ford Fairlane 500 just sitting there. Farmer said older lady drove it in there one winter and it got stuck. She simply left it. All the chrome and windows are intact too.

Looks like that car has been sitting there for a long time.
If it was a modern car, it would be a rust heap by now..

American pickers would love to find a car like that, they would probably paid between 5&10 thousand dollars for a car like that.

Only 14 years old when it was abandoned.. I bet it was still in good shape…. Too bad she did not leave it is a barn or shed.

So far I’m finding pics of similar discs but not specifically like the one in my photo. The 1” spindle hole in the center appears to be correct info to horse drawn (usually one row of 6 discs per side for 12 total). If anybody has a resource I would appreciate a link.

The farmer said there have been offers on the car but no one wants to remove it, just parts. I’m not real good with engines but it has to be either the 292 or 312 V8. I think the engine is whats the attraction.

Curious what the Legends TID numbers were on that Fairlane. I'm thinking mid range cause that things pure gold. Seriously, that would be a great restoration project.

Yeah, it would! That model is a boat, though, compared to the 1956 Fairlane 2 door hardtop I had. Started a family in the early 60's so traded it in on a Ford station wagon. Wish I still had the 56.

I've got a fresh 302 and C-4 trans ready to drop in that car ,, while I rebuild the factory stuff . To bad it's such a long haul to go pick it up .

Best part of that find? In the back seat was a sack of empty Rainier beer cans in absolutely pristine shape, the type with the beavertail pull.
