Old Chesapeake Bay Gold..

The Chesapeake Bay has many old beach (83+), 99% are now closed, sold and private. To hunt them one has to walk from a access point which can be from a few hundred yards to over a mile, unless you have a boat. First time out and I Love the boat because it's like a pit stop, you can take your breaks and spend more time at locations, change out machines or coils if you see the need. And with so many beach conditions you just never know what your going to encounter.

First trip out was a old private bay beach about 45 minutes south. Had a great time with my buddy's Scott and Joe, Joe parents had a beach house a few miles north of this location and his dad had ran a small produce stand at the beachcomber here in the 60's. Amazing Joe could still place all that was there during the 60's. Once hunting I could tell the locals had hit the place real hard, very recently, but both of us were able to pulled a few keepers...Mine was a old gold from the early 1900's. Next trip out, one of the sister beach's to this one in Annapolis.

Yeah! Thats some old stuff there alright! I think you made a good move with that boat and hitting those places strategically..:clapping:

I sometimes get my boat out on Lake Mich early when the wind is out of the east, (flat lake for us) and the sun is just coming up, cruising along not far offshore, drinking coffee, some binoculars and polaroids, crystal clear and cold water, a guy can see the cuts on those private stretches, quickly zoom in, drop anchor off the sandbar, jump out and sweep, and be gone, luckily, nobody can stop you as long as you dont go up on the beach to high tide line....Its seldom we have flat days though, maybe half a dozen per year, and a guy cannot handle or anchor a boat in the surf at all...if a fellow gets too far from the channel, and the wind shifts and comes in heavy out of the West, the surf stacks up fast..a guy will get into big trouble real quick here on Lake Michigan. Congratulations on a great hunt!:please:

Thanks MP and Jim......Tell you, I would have never made it if it were not for Scott n Joe...I am a rookie boater.....

Thanks BH and TVR.. she ain't big but she floats and hope a few more outings I can launch by myself....LOL

The gun is made out of lead (heavy).
Had a great time Joe,
Thanks again
The boat sure does beat walking to the spot!!

Joe, You and Scott saved the trip the other day by jumping to the little things that came up..like the dead battery...I really appreciate your experience on the maiden trip out to the hi seas...

I'm ready anytime you guys are to hit it again......

I love that lead toy gun....Very Kool.

those are old. BTW, the PP/Disc mod works great. Tried it out last week and it was flawless, the water was cold but still managed to find a few coins, a heavy SS bracelot, a gold plated ring and a .925 James Avery Key to my Heart ring, had a good time, excal purred right along. Thanks and good hunting to you. John

Nice finds, nice boat and good friends. It doesn't get any better than that. I wish I could afford a small boat for some areas on the river I want to get to, but have no experience with boats. glad you had someone help you out who had some experience with boating especially in the surf.

Hey Buddy...
Beauty boat and congrats on the GOLD!!!
Great seeing you last week in CT.............

Thanks Guys....

Clive, every dig in the bay is a adventure.....

John TX, Glad the remote is working great. Wait till you get the coil change endcap, (A Real Game Changer for Excalibur owners) For me it's equally hype to the Excalibur as the remote PP.. And testing now I have several hours in the water submerged, no issues..Going to do my other machine soon.....And those are some real nice finds, like the silver....

Lew I was honored to meet you in person Sir, one of the all time Greats....enjoyed are talk and hunt time. Watching you work that area in the water was a learning experience for me buddy, thanks for all...may see you next year.

Fongu, I think the boat will open so many areas for me It will take me the rest of my life to hunt them. And your right, never would have made it without Scott and Joe, both great hunters and friends.

Barry, It's been along time coming to meet you buddy, I fully enjoyed ever second. From the time we hunted, you finding some nice Gold, to the perfect lunch we shared. Thanks for taking the time to drive up and spend the day with us......Be Safe and get out there and find some more Gold!!
