So..... now is the time to do some good research for the fall. Work on getting permission. I will work on scouting out some new farm fields and start talking to farmers. What about you guys ?

It's the start of water hunting season up here EJ. Yes it's starting to get hot. I watch for spots to come huntable again & go at night when it's cooler when I can't take it anymore.

Not civil war hunting related persay, but here in Central Cali the ground is dry. Either lake time or totlot time. Darn.

I have wanted to hunt the creeks around Port Hudson. I'm sure there are some goodies but I'd bet some big snakes too ! :rage:

I'm allergic to snakes! Oh & lightning also. I have no use for either one.

Guess I'm gonna concentrate on COINS again. Good luck everybody. CCH

I'll be hunting antebellum homes EJ. But it's NEVER too hot to dig some relics. We just hunted a new one and found a navy coat button with 90-95% gold gilding, 2 rings, plumb bob, and a cannon ball that weighs 75-100 pounds with fuse intact.

Be very careful with the cannonball with fuse. Could be very live !!! CAUTION.

Yeah this is definitely a sport one has to work the seasons just right...unless a guy lives on a beach in Fiji, then he could just schedule hunts around the tourists. We had frost on the ground yesterday am...mosquitos just now hatching...lots of heavy brush coming up quickly, so a change of hunting style is in order.

Several people have asked me why the CW posts have been slow on this site as of late. Its because its just too hot or crops are planted. C'mon September ! CCH

going through a week of 100F+ temps here in Central Cali. Should come to an end on Thursday.

It's not hotter than 90 here in South Central PA but the humidity is crazy high this time of the year. I am going to do a little water relic hunting this week. EJ it's going to be time soon to dust your detectors off. HH TIM

Yes most people don't realize that relic season is in the colder months. Most of our fields are in crops and I wouldn't even think of going into the woods right now as the overgrowth is way too thick along with the poison ivy, snakes, spiders, etc. The open fields grass is too high to swing as most have not been cut yet. And we have been getting a lot of rain lately. I am researching for places to go this fall/winter. I may go out and try to find some old coins when I get time. Come on colder weather.

Yes I like October to April.

Yea October thru April is prime time for us relic hunters down here in Georgia to!!

I only detect on the rainy days. And just put in the work between downpours. Keeps me a lot cooler.
