OK, if I die this week, here's why...

All that I split by hand, but it was mostly 10" birch on average, that would split with one hit with an ax. Still, that's a lot of wood. And I'm not getting any younger. Here in Virginia, we just burn wood in a couple of the fireplaces for supplemental heat, and that's only about three cords.

I caught my hand in a wood splitter, ended up with 9 stitches. Had my fingers been across the log, it would have chopped them off. But instead, because I was lowering the log onto the splitter, the log pushed my hand into the wedge between the fingers. Cut a nice gash between my small finger and the fourth finger. Very hard for the doctor to stitch up. The reason this happened was because I was putting the logs on the splitter, and another guy was operating the hydraulic handle... we don't do that no more, no no. Got the 9 stitches, and came back to work splitting more wood. Oh well, the 2 hour break was nice while it lasted.

I doubt there is anyone on this forum that could keep up with you.
Hydraulic Splitter ?? Heck... it's only one little ol tree ....
