Well, I expect this lucky streak to end about any time now, but, it didn't today...

My best find ever; this one came from 9 1/2", completely on edge, and hit like a ton of bricks. It was so loud and showed so deep, I was SURE it was an iron false...glad I dug it anyway...

According to my amateur, clueless opinion after checking my Photograde book, I am thinking EF-40 or a bit higher...anyone else have a thought?

In any case, this was a complete shocker. I almost quit hunting for the day; this was my second target, five minutes into the hunt!

Glad I didn't, as I rescued a few more oldies from the ground...

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I have hit what, for this "young" state, is probably a once-in-a-lifetime honey hole. It's a piece of ground that I've learned is where the original settlers during the "Oklahoma Land Run," which started in 1889, arrived to this town. They "set up camp" here, temporarily, upon arrival, apparently while they built houses. The coins we have found in this little spot have ranged from 1885 to 1907 (only a few, sparse, newer coins into the teens and twenties -- which are likely newer drops probably unrelated to the original settlers). The old coins, though, have all been 1907 and earlier. NOTHING AT ALL after 1907, until about 1915 or so.

Anyway, once this spot "plays out," I don't expect to be posting Barbers much, let alone any more Seated ladies! :)

But it's been an amazing experience and I'm thankful to have had the opportunity!

I have a site that dates to 1898, not much use before. I've pulled about a dozen seated from here, oldest a 1854 quarter. I bet you have a lot more older coins to find at your site.
