Ok guys fess up! Who else is a member of the No Gold Losers Club this year? Think it has been 15 months since my last. Maybe tomorrow! Yeah right!

Thirteen pieces of gold jewelry since the first of the year, Not all with the Explorer most with my Sovereign and GoldQuest Pi. The Explorer did get three of these in the pile, One of them read as a deep Indian penny and out pops a large mans 1950's wedding band buried down 9" inches "The one with a dent."
Not knocking the Explorer but I prefer the Sovereign with no meter when gold hunting, Seems to do a better job. Sovereign for gold and Explorer for deep silver or iron laced sites. Pi for ocean gold jewelry.
Start digging all those lower/middle conductors, The gold will come just have to dig allot of trash <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Still trying though <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

It's more where I hunt rather than the signals I dig. Trust me, I get my fair share of crap. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
The good thing is when I do get gold it's either a very interesting piece, or a good story. Here is my last one. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> It was found with items which basically all dated 250 years old. The closest I have seen for a match is Victorian period. It is unmarked.

Got my Best one so far at 9 inches down in a park here in Michigan. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">

Your gold ring is hand made, Victorian period or even older. This one should be with best finds of the year on a treasure mag, Congrats.

Wow Tom,
Rings like yours are hard to recover and a deep recovery gold find like yours makes it even a better gold find, She's a beauty.
Congrats, Paul

Hello bk,
The amount of trash depends, If going after gold at parks and schools I try to limit my trash to no more that 100 pieces of trash per trip. Sometimes it may be a few trips out but eventually gold will surface.
My small pile in the pic above is really small compared to several others here in California or back east, Some hunter get close to 50 or more pieces of gold per year.
"Ocean beach hunting" This is totally different than inland gold jewelry hunting, The amount of trash is allot lower when searching the wet sand. Many times may only get 5 to 30 pieces of trash per gold ring.
"Ocean dry sand" More trash to dig back to digging 100 or more per trip for a piece of gold <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
Bottom line, Dig everything <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

First gold with Explorer, I found it at the local beach in July.

OK so I'm on 51 gold rings for the year but I hit nearly a hundred last year so I'm not doing that well <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">.

Fred

Only kidding - as we all said at the time - nice ring. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
