Has anyone ever used one of these machines near the water and do any of you have any tips on detecting there. I've never been detecting at the ocean before so any advice will be appreciated.

You can hunt from the South Nags Head southern line to the North Carolina/Virginia state line. Do not go any further south than the South Nags Head line (National Park Service). During the summer, you can hunt on the dry sand and may get lucky finding treasure lost by the day people. For more serious hunting, you may want to hunt the wet sand from the high water mark and down to the ocean as far as you can during low tide. I am not familiar with your machine, but do you have a salt mode. Remember salt is a mineral. Check out this web site. It will be helpful. http://www.outerbanksnc.net/
Have a good time while visiting here on the Outer Banks.

"Oh look Guy, this one has diamonds in it too !!" Or "Gee Guy, I wish I could find ONE more ring to make it an even 10 for the day !!" :rolleyes Craig, maybe you can get up with Danny or me and we can hunt together. Your Whites will probably do better in the dry sand. It just about takes a machine programmed for salt to hunt wet salt. I'm about 100 miles from the coast and have to pick my trips carefully. Shoot me an E-mail.
