I was on my way to go water hunting, but saw a habitat for Humanity construction site off a side street...So I whipped in there and fired up the F70.[attachment 290645 walker3.jpg]

I went straight to the back of the lot where the dirt was undisturbed, and started hitting pennys! Not your normal pennys, one was an Indian, and several were wheats. Then I got a strange silvery kind of tone and out popped a 1899 Barber dime![attachment 290646 walker5.jpg]

I left and went to the water, tried to settle down and hunt for gold, but couldnt concentrate, so I left and went back to the lot...underneath the trackhoe, I got a big signal...My First Walker, and First Silver Half![attachment 290647 walker4.jpg]

I came out of there with 4 wheats, 41,42,44,45, a 07 Indian, a 1899 Barber dime, and a 43 Walker Half....I tell you, I never thought I would ever find a Walker, let alone a Half...all coins were shallow, and I'm sure theres more in the dirtpiles...[attachment 290648 walker2.jpg]

I dont know what to think...maybe I need to go back there? I worked it pretty good since its a small lot, but perhaps I missed something?[attachment 290649 walker.jpg] I'm not an old silver hunter by nature, but I got a small taste of the incredible allure of it, and it was scrumptious!...

Glad you got to go in there. Lots of times they won't let you go in because of the machinery. Keep hitting it.

Hey xwyokid...yeah, while I was there the equipment operator guy showed up, we had a nice talk about the weather and detectors....then he asked if I would find the curbstop for him so he wouldnt blade it off. No problem! He said sweep away as he loaded up some stumps and whatnot, but I left and came back when he hauled off a load...

After he moved the trackhoe, I found that Walker right under where it was parked, smack under the track! So you are right, perfect timing, or that coin would still be there, maybe forever! I worked it all pretty good, along the sidewalks and all...I dont know if I got it all, probably not...and thats what will haunt me..still, I got some new finds for me, and I can live with that..

Mudd you got to get that dirt halled to your house, its loaded, it just stirs my pot to see dirt like that ,

Mud, nice going on all the coins put especially the walker. Isnt she awesome? Glad you had the go nads to go there. Appropriate title for your post. Maybe it'll rain hard and they cant work it some more. CO

Right time, right place,.............Opportunity knocks!! That is some nice silver.:clapping: I keep my X30 in the truck all the time just in case I come across an situation like that. You nailed it!!!

That, my friend...I why we do this! Congrats!!

fantastic hunt Mud! That big silver bug bit and you my friend have a fever lol Go back as there is more waiting for you...

Congratulations of those outstanding finds. I honestly get a greater thrill out of digging a silver coin than I do a gold ring. I guess it has to do with the fact that with a silver coin you are digging history. Gold is made and lost every day. Be careful that Silver Bug can bite quite hard.

Hey man, that is some high grade paydirt:clapping:. Rent a dumpster/container quick and fill it to the brim with that paydirt and detect to your heart's content! Do it before they start pouring the concrete slab or all those old silver's will be LOST FOREVER!!!! Seriously, I think you had an A+Plus day today!!! Congrats!!!!

Way to go Mud!! I concur with evert single kuddo given out to you!!

Go back as long as they will let you.......I know I sure would.

HH y'all.

Congrats Mud!:clapping:

You must have been in some kind of time warp. A hunt with results like that was fairly commonplace 30+ years ago.

Dont feel bad Mud I never found any kind a half dollar in five years of hunting. Then bought a Eurotech pro a couple a months ago and found a 64 and a 67 in the same hunt only a few inches apart.Looks like you found a honey hole.:jump:HH

Nice finds! Man I love your Walking half, how I would love to find one of those babys!!!
My first good find was a 10k gold ring, but I was FAR more excited about my 1st silver coin, a 42 Washington quarter, and far more exciting than that quarter was my 2nd silver coin found the day after my 1st silver, a 1928 mercury dime in beautiful condition! I always told myself I wouldn't be a "real detectorist" until I found a merc dime!

That Barber is also a beauty and on my bucket list, good job Mud!!!

Good trains only go once, you were very attentive and daring and got its just reward. Mud Congrats, you're a good warrior
