I agree with Miserman .. We usually find wetter soil to be better,which it typically is but the same moisture that is making the coins sound louder can also magnified the effect of iron and ground minerals..
ive experienced this many years ago at the beach..there were probably about 20 people working the waterline one evening..I was barely averaging 1 target every 10 minutes as were others.. as the beach thinned out and darkness set it the targets started hitting every minute or two and my depth got better too..I’m sure many others had swept the same sand an hour prior..the only difference I could up with was that the sand I was hunting was now damp instead of wet and I believe the difference in moisture saturation was the main difference..
