Odd residential hunt…..

Well-known member
So jkline got permission to do a residential hunt, nice home built in 1941 on a dead end street. Thinking this is either going to be a spectacular day or a bust……
After we decided who was going where I took my side of the front yard and Jeff the other. Once done we either both go to the back or one of us catches up to the other. Within a few minutes I got a strong low tab number but the tone was strong so dug, out pops a 1945S nickel!! Make my turn around and go another 10 feet and another low tab number. Ok, I dug it…… 1943S nickel! This is going to be a good day I’m thinking.
Finish up my side and nothing else. Zip, nada, zero. Well, did see the handle of the spoon/fork but no way to dig through the maze of roots….
Jeff comes back up front doing his happy walk……. (I’ll let him tell his story when he catches up on here).
Weird thing was I only found one clad dime and one Memorial cent after that in the front. Moved to a side yard and mostly tabs and bottle caps except for one good low nickel number. Ended up what looked like a dateless Buffalo but when I got home I could just barely make 1925 on the date.
All that effort on this place and not one wheatie popped up. First time thats ever happened to me.

Nice trio of nickels! Strange that you didn’t find one wheatie though.

It was weird-- I do my side of the front yard, and while Ron is finding war nickels, I'm up only 3 memorials, swinging my etrac using Elmy's expanded magic program.

I hit the backyard-- long story short, '54 WA, 43 Merc and 47 Rosie, and 3 memorials in the bag. Not a single wheat... which was pretty odd. All 3" deep. Another odd thing-- lots of iron in the yard, which was deeper than the coins. Maybe the house was built first, then landscaped later.

For the etrac guys-- quarter was 8 47. Cut the plug and 6" down was a bent 16penny nail. Crap! Put the plug back... Swept it again-- 12 48. New it would be good and it was! Just a lesson that you always rescan the hole.

Anyway, nice adding some silver to the ol' coin bag. Here's a pic for Elmy:

Thanks Jeff.....Nice pic....silver is always good to see.( Actually , I knew he found it. ):D
Been picking on JKLINE a lot because I know he is using the etrac Magic program. Sent out a lot of the magic out but most just don't get the concept of a cherry picking program that does produce, even in iron. Not a gold ring program so most won't use it....
ANYWAY I am done picking on Jeff....I know he will be glad of that !
Thanks for putting up with an old man and trying his favorite etrac coin program.
NO more magic pushing......I promise.

Not so sure its been hunted before? Jeff’s and my coins rather shallow and he found the quarter in the back yard near slide/swing and kid fort. Besides, if previously cherry picked why no wheats? If there was a detector over this it was most likely previous owners permission and more than likely a beep and dig type machine. Guess we’ll never figure out this mystery.

setup a pattern for wheats only and give it an hour over the coins found area......you should know for sure then....specific coin test.
