Odd question

In the owners manual for the Legend it states to not carry anything metal on you. I hand carry the Lesche shovel (more like semi drag behind me as I know the coil sounds off if too close) and a metal trowel in my finds bag. Can i still carry these items or is this detector that sensitive?

I have watched a few of Paystreak’s videos and he carries a shovel in his left hand and has a trowel in a sheath in front of his lower belly. His trash/finds pouch is on his left hip. Seems like a lot of metal to me. He uses the Legend and the Deus II.

That makes me wonder who really are testI guess these machines these days? Probably the folks at Tommy Copper shirts, socks and underware will have a problem with this manual!

Well thats thats what I was thinking…. I figured if that was a problem the forum would have blown up as to why etc. I subscribe to the theory there is no such thing as a stupid question, and thats why I asked. But after 35 years in law enforcement I’ve heard about every stupid answer…….

I agree with you, there are no dumb questions. I just wanted to bring a little levity to this crazy hobby. I worked in the telecom industry for 35 years before they pushed me out and believe me, I asked plenty of questions so I could get the job done.

theres alot more metallic items in the ground than you will ever carry on you, the only metal item that you could have on you that could harm anything is steel toe cap boots, will give you serious back ache

Ron, I don't think there are stupid answers, just stupid people that can't , or won't, control their mouth. I would love to have heard what people said to you over your years in law enforcement. Probably make a best seller. You may have a "seller" taking a rest in the back of your brain, or wherever this stuff hides out.

I bet you could write a book on the "stupid question" subject and it would be on the best sellers list. I worked for the Canada Border Services Agency and I heard some doozies from both Canadians returning home from the U.S. and from U.S. visitors coming to Canada for a vacation.

Sort of hard to not carry anything metal on you. I drag a giant aluminum sand scoop behind me on the beach, no problem, in fact I use it when I swing the coil all the way around just to check its sensitivity. I think you might have more problems carrying your cell phone when on, than anything else.

I'm with Suncoast, you are far more apt to have problems with carrying a cell phone then a hand digger. And I have never had a problem with any detector with a pouch with up to 150 coins in it plus trash.. HH jim tn

You mean like pulling someone over and asking how fast they were going?

Officer: do you realize how fast you were traveling?!
Motorist: why of course officer and If you didn’t stop me I would of reached 100mph

Ideally you ask them if they know how fast they were going. I know exactly where the posted signs are on the highways and urban roads so they either know and admit (usually a verbal warning and release if light traffic) or they play the “Ive no idea game, how fast was I going?” game. Wrong move.
Speedometer doesn’t work = equipment violation.
“I wasn’t really paying attention” = inattentive driving.
“It was only 10 mph over” = on a 50 mph urban thats 20% over, hard to explain in court.
“Not my car” = twice ended up stolen or joyriding.
Just be truthful and 99% of the uniforms will release with warning. Exception is in school zones, pretty heavily enforced for a reason.
