OBX help!

Hey all, i'm looking to take the loop for a walk on the beach in Waves, NC the first week Sept. Can anyone confirm with me that i can or cannot detect the beaches south of Naghead due to it being owned by the state? This will be my first time beach hunting or detecting at all in over two years! My son who is now three seems to really want to go with me so i'll have a digger with me ready to roll. Any help is appreciated on the regs of where i can and cannot detect in the Outer Banks would be much appreciated.

Thanks..i think. I'll just contact the state before doing anything illegal....i just thought someone on here might know or have detected there in the past.

as far as i know, once u cross the bonner bridge, it is all nat. seashore

Metal Detectors: 36 CFR 2.1(a)(7) prohibits use of metal detectors in all national parks.
You will be subject to $100 fine and confiscation of your equipment. See www.nps.gov/caha/faq.htm#metal. However, there are beaches in the area that are not part of the park.

Spoke with a park ranger yesterday at the Cape Hatteras light house site. No metal detectors are allowed anywhere on the outerbanks from the northern tip of Hatteras Island south throughout the extent of the National Seashore. Oh well.......Thanks for the info everyone
