Numbers have changed...

I have found the target ID number will change depending on how accurately I get the coil over the target.

hey grumpy, I fixed mine. The chord wrapped around the lower shaft was my problem. I didn't go high enough. It's best to run the chord strait up the shaft free-hanging with a little play. tape it or zip-tie 4 inches above the lower tightening bolt on the middle shaft. then wrap around the rest of the shaft all the way up to the module to decrease slack. I will post a pic. it cured all my problems. I repeat, there should be no cord wrapped around the lowest skinnier shaft. Made a world of a difference. it still isn't hitting silver, but at least i can tell the difference between a penny, dime, and a quarter. and the iron audio works way better. I found my first ring today. not silver or gold. but it is a cute little bumble bee ring for my daughter.

She's a little muddy, but we had a rough day.

I can try that. But, I have had the cord wrapped around the shaft as the directions state from day one, and had no problems until now.

I have 2 AT Pro's and one AT Gold...
My AT Pro reads the coins the same and GB at the same number....
Now a friend has a AT Pro and hers reads different from the first time that I checked it against mine...
Her AT Pro read a few numbers off on the same target.
Also,, same 5x8 coil, her AT Pro read coins off a few numbers and the GB number was different by a few numbers.
Also,, I could use the same clean spot of ground to GB my unit like 80 and her AT Pro was like 83...settings the same..
Now I can run my GB number down to zero or up to 99 and re-GB in the same spot and get a GB number of 80...
Her AT Pro would like 3 or 4 numbers + or - of getting back to the 83......
Also, I could run my GB numbers up or down like 10 numbers from the 80, and it was stable,, her AT pro was like 3 or 4 numbers
+ or - from the 83 and it was un-stable....
She sent the AT Pro in to Garrett for repair,,, they did replace the part of the coil connector in the control box,,,now it works like it should.

So Grumpy,, I think your AT Pro has a problem....
Just my thoughts..

Thanks for the info.

I'm sure mine has a problem. It has changed noticeably since I bought it. I'll look at my coil connection to see if there is anything noticeably wrong with it.

Short hunt today. Kinda the same problem using both coils. A ton of chatter,VDI numbers are off, chatters even with the sensitivity down, and some with the coil up over head. Had to ground balance every few swing, which is abnormal from before. After awhile the chatter stopped suddenly for a few and began again.

Emailed Garrett and got a reply to call a person, to try some things to resolve the problems.

After the club meeting tonight I did a side by side test with a buddies ATP and mine. Turn his on and check the settings, Pro Zero, full sensitivity. Picked up the re-bar in the pavement and quiet as a mouse in the air. As soon as I turned mine on, the coil in the air, it began to chatter like crazy. The buddy says OH NO! It;s messed up. And it didn't pickup the re-bar.

I'll be calling hte garrett guy first thing tomorrow.
