Just a short hunt was all I could do this evening so I hit a cabin within a mile from the house. These early settlers had lost their son at the age of 27 1864 probably from war wounds as he did serve on the Union side. So, in all probability this small button was indeed his. Love saving history like this. A few minutes of lemon juice wash with a good rinse is all this beauty needed. Hats off to Jellyman for the tasty bits of genealogy.

Great looking button and hats off to you in a very nice cleaning and preservation of this Historical piece. Congrat's. The story that goes along with this button makes it more personal and meaningful.

Stud of a button!

Great finds like this keep history and the people that made it alive for years beyond its creation. 160+ years and this young man and soldier and the family that he had are still being honored. That’s why we do this hobby!
Great button Jeff!
