First the Almighty E-Trac, and now the Ultimate CTX3030 ............. How many of us will remain there ?.

I for one will.... It took me a long time to " GET IT " with the Se pro. I'm not giving it up now that " I GOT IT "...........

Good luck CTX users............. I mean that..I hope it is the perfect detector for everyone !!

Explorer SE 4.0 lbs CTX 5.3 lbs - that is all my shoulder needs to know. I'm sticking with the SE

I still have my original XS that I bought in 2000. I wouldn't think of selling it. I still believe that the machine "smells" silver and I still REALLY like the sound it makes when it hits. But I also have an SE Pro and an Etrac. They too are awesome machines in their own right. Like most guys I have extra coils, good headphones, and the other things that I use to go out and have some fun. But I also have the knowlede that has developed slowlly over the years. I also don't want to give that up. I still like that peace of mind that Bryce talks about when I'm out with my dog and my old friend the Explorer. I also know that my machine is matched to where I hunt and what I am trying to do similar to what Dew mentioned. I'm confident in my machine and know I can get results.

Like most folks I have only read what is posted in the forum on the new CTX. No question it is going to be a great machine and I'm all for that. It has some unique features that are very useful and time will tell how truely good those features are. But for most of us who are willing to wait and see, we should continue to enjoy the great machine that we have. Digger, the CTX forum moderator estimates that the CTX will get "5 to 10%" more depth in auto sensitivity. But he is guarded in that estimate. No one knows for sure. Is that the end of the world for me the SE guy. I don't think so assuming that to be true. Do I, after all these years, want to be swinging a 5 and a half pound CTX ??? Not today.

Keep the faith you guys. The Explorer is still a great machine. And Bryce thank you again for having one of the best forums in the entire metal detecting world. HH John

All it is is a waterproof ETRAC with GPS

Well said Elton.
I'm the same. I've been getting out with my SE lately and I'm surprised at well I understand it's tones these days. Ain't it sweet well you finally gell with your detector. It took quite a while.
The CTX looks like a real sweet detector, but I'll be happy with my Explorer for quite some time to come. I may go over to the darkside at some point and get one, but not today.
Mick Evans.

The new Minelab CTX takes nothing away for the power of the SE. An oldie maybe but a goodie!

I plan on being in that 20th percentile as well. Too much $$ for me but it looks like a really nice detector and I wish those who try one nothing but good fortune.
