Now that we have been cast into the dark ages..........

First the Almighty E-Trac, and now the Ultimate CTX3030 ............. How many of us will remain there ?.

I for one will.... It took me a long time to " GET IT " with the Se pro. I'm not giving it up now that " I GOT IT "...........

Good luck CTX users............. I mean that..I hope it is the perfect detector for everyone !!

I'm with you there Elton. Besides, I'm not ready to sell one of my kidneys to be able to afford one anyways.:surrender:

idk bout some of you but i havent found enough to pay for my newly used explorer yet i think im up to 12bucks in clad no way i could afford a new ctx thats insane for a detector if u ask me

i'm with diggingitup. haven't found enough to pay for my current toys. as far as pricing too high, they said the same thing about the e-trc and the explorers when they first came out. still say that about the e-trac. so that's nothing really new. the cost is way past me.

I guess it is like those that hunt game with more expensive rifles.
They are definitely marketing to a select group of detectorists.

Maybe we will enjoy a less expensive version. Perhaps they will leave the GPS off and get the price down later in the season. A slightly scaled down offering would still appeal to a lot of us.

Count me in Elton I'm going to stay around here for a while, I'm not giving my E track up it's working just fine for me. Now if Bryce decides to get one and we can take it out to see if it's any better than my E track or his SE Pro I might jump on the bandwagon in a couple months maybe. Number one it has to separate much better as they showed in their videos. We like to check each others targets to see if it's a deep coin or junk and we have fun doing it. In other words we like to really take them through their paces and see what works and what don't for $2500 we all need to know the truths about everything and how it works in every mode before we buy. Now that I've said this I hope this post doesn't get deleted over here like it did on the other form if you mention price they will boot you in a heartbeat as they did me :ranting: I wish everybody the best on what they decide and only time will tell the truth I'm waiting for that time thanks yeti.:crylol:

If I had the cash to drop on any detector I wanted, it would be a brand new Explorer. I'm sure the CTX is a fine unit but I'm finally in my comfort zone and I'm not giving that up.

Lots does have to do with your pocket book or where and what you are hunting. The beach guys may see this as an upgrade to the Sov.... and its water proof with FBS. Ive also noticed more people are hunting creeks, rivers and ponds... its taking off like field hunting. Those people have a faster cash flow to pay for their detectors that relic and coin hunter who seldom if ever sell items found. Im still keeping my SE as well that i use on the wet/dry sand.... just because according to Gordon Heritage there is NO depth increase and on my beaches you can go a long time without hitting a target so some of the features dont interest me. In the salt water..... well they say 10 feet.... but for how long.... and you have to do this and that or add this and that to water hunt. I still think the SE is as capable a machine as there is out there for most conditions and locations. I dont think we have seen the end of the new machines this year either.

Ya.. they will price whatever the market will.bear.. and make top dollar on the first few sells..then if they ain't moving.. the price will lower.. over 2 grand to find pennies is to hard for me to pay.. I hope minelab has a price reduction after a few months , or comes out with a non gps unit.. guess we will.have to wait and see.. I am seeing more units on eBay lately.

i think toddwisconsin is close. my money says the'll come out with a stripped down version at a lower, not by much, cost.
so much illusion so little actuallity.

I agree with everyone here...I finally feel like I know what my Explorer is telling me -- and knowing how to use your machine is BIG, in my opinion. I am not looking forward to someday learning a new machine -- and at the price being asked, the CTX is NOT the one that will push me over the edge, into selling my Explorer.

I can't imagine something doing a better job on old coins than an Explorer (or E-Trac), and my "next machine" will have to be proven to be "light years" ahead, in order to bring me to a place where I'm willing to start from scratch again, on the learning curve. Right now, I don't see ANYTHING being "light years" ahead of the Explorer; not even close. I'll keep an open mind, but I don't see that happening (a machine coming out that is head-and-shoulders above an Explorer, on old coin hunting) any time soon.

Just my two cents...

Steve

thought about it but no my explorer se has found me alot of great things and i understand my machine very well, right now the ctx 3030 is new theres going to be a lot of hype but in a few months i think a few people will be regreting selling off their e-trac and explorer se's,

I've got time. I can wait to see if they come out with any other FBS2 machines.
If they do, and the concept is proving itself to be a winner, then I'll have something to ponder. Until then, I'll stick with what I have.

Good thinking Don.
And, yes, definitely out of my budget as it stands now.

I don't know how useful more depth would be in my area, if that is what the CTX has over the Explorer. Topsoil around here is generally not as deep as in the midwest, you might have eight inches of topsoil before you hit subsoil which is rocky. I don't think stuff sinks below the topsoil. Of course there are a few areas here with deeper subsoil. I'll stick with the explorer, unless I hit the lottery or something.

I'm holding out for the Minelab 3-D glasses that allow me to see a foot or two in the ground in high res. Please don't forget the zoom feature. I would like to know the dates and details before I dig. JJ
