NOV. 10,11,12 Not much to see but I love the 1280x and this hobby

Hi all,
I was fortunate to get out this weekend a few hours each of the last few days. The 10th and 11th were spent in a local park, I am still new and learning what my Fisher 1280x is telling me. My pinpointing skills are improving greatly, many times I am getting the object in the pulled plug.
On the 12th my wife suggested a different park, it paid off well. I had my best day yet, I also found my first nickel.
One question though, for anyone else with a 1280x I am not hearing different tones as they state in the manual. Are the tones that slight? Or can I have a problem?
Here are the pics.

Guess no one else has a 1280x:shrug: that can help you with the tone question. You've got some good finds there and it looks like your on the right track. Keep up the good work and i'm sure the gold and silver will come.:detecting:

OOPS! I see that you got your help with the tones by reposting the question.
I can be such an idiot sometimes. I think it has something to do with my genetic makeup.

you know I have the same machine and seemed that the problem with the tones where the same as you described. it was hard to tell what it was really saying to me at times, and alot of the time dug up junk thinking it was something good.

the machine quit working sometime after our last vacation and we were hunting a hotspot in a lake. detector was 1 year old and still under 5 year warranty. Sent it back to fisher and finally got back the fixed detector today.

They said it kept leaking water, but is suppossed to be fixed now. Also I noticed something strange they did to the coil. the bottom is covered in a shiney hard plastic or ceramic finish which was not like that before. Something I also noticed about the machine, is I took my gold necklace and tested different sounds and noticed a huge change in what is was saying to me before. The gold if you have the discrimination down to 2 should be a low beeping.....but the junk will be loud beep.

so I'm thinking if it's still under warrenty see about having it looked at.

Krissy,
Found out that my operating manual had a wrong page. It was mostly for the 1280X except for one picture which is from the CZ series detector manual. I verified it by checking the Fisher website and downloading the manuals. That is why I thought the 1280X was a 3 tone machine. The 1280 is a one tone machine.
